Chapter Nine

So.......this chapter is going to jump a while. It's the end of the school year around May.

I'll explain everything with a therapy session with Raphael and then we'll get into the actual chapter.

The next two chapters will be summer vacation and then after that it will be the start of Raphael's senior year.

"So, what's been happening since we last saw each other? Since your progress has progressed, we've made it to monthly visits which means you're getting better." Dr. Wallcot smiled.

"I moved back in with my dad."

"Yes, I heard. Congratulations."

Raphael nodded his head. "It's been awesome."

"And what of school. Have you been looking at colleges?"

"UCLA really caught my eye."

"That's an excellent school, Raphael."

"Yea....."

"What else has happened?"

"I got a job."

"Good, good. Where?"

"Westside Market, it ain't much but it pays the bills."

"What bills?"

"I bought my own car. With me and Leo both having jobs.....arguing over the car was just a pain in the ass. So, I saved up and bought my own car. Two Thousand BMW Three Series, black. It needed some work but....I got her up and running." Raph smiled.

"What else have you been doing?"

"I've been uploading some songs I've written on YouTube. Just me in the studio. And by studio I mean my dads garage." He smiled brightly.

"That's great, Raphael."

"What?"

"Seeing you like this. You're finally getting better."

"I mean.....yea but that doesn't....."

"Doesn't what?"

"Doesn't change the fact that I still think about it."

"You do?"

"All the time. But it's more of a why feeling? Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why would all that happen to me, to us if we were just gonna end up back with our dad?"

"Raphael, everything happens for a reason. Though it may not make sense, it happens. What matters is you won."

Raphael stopped and looked at the middle aged man. Eyes filled with tears and a small smile crossed his face. "I what?" He whispered.

"You won? Why is that such a shock?"

"I--I don't know."

"You've never put it that way in your brain have you?"

"No, never." Raphael sighed.

"Raphael, what else has happened since the last time I saw you?"

"Leo's still not gonna apply to colleges, he's just gonna open up a karate studio not far from where we live. He says that people who do that make a lot of money. Especially for kids in a city."
