Chapter 19

Shrek was eating his dinner until he heard a sound coming from outside. He went outside to investigate the noise. It was Donkey, Kobe and Max.

" Guys?" Shrek asked. Kobe and Max waved their hands at the ogre while Donkey ignored him and continued doing his thing.

" What are you doing?" Shrek asked the Donkey.

" I would think, if all people, you would recognize a wall when you see one." Donkey told Shrek.

" Well yeah but the wall's supposed to go around my swamp not through it."Shrek reminded. Kobe and Max rolled their eyes in annoyance having to hear the two fight.

" It is around your half. See that's your half and this is our half. Donkey said pointing at both sides.

" Oh. Your half, hmm." Shrek said.

" Yes, our half. We helped rescue the princess. We did half the work. We got the half booty. Now hand us that big rock, the one that looks like your head." Donkey ordered Shrek.

" Back off!" Shrek snapped.

" No, you back off." Donkey snapped back.

" This is my swamp!" Shrek snapped.

" You mean our swamp." Donkey told him as Shrek grabbed the tree branch Donkey was working with.

" When will this stop?!!" Kobe thought to herself as she was annoyed with the fight.

" Let go Donkey!" Shrek said as he pushed the branch towards Donkey.

" You let go!" Donkey said.

" Stubborn jackass!" Shrek insulted.

" Smelly ogre!" Donkey insulted back.

" ENOUGH!!" Both Kobe and Max shouted as the ogre and the donkey stopped fighting.

" Fine." Shrek replied as he dropped the branch and walked away. Kobe, Max and Donkey followed Shrek while Donkey started to talk.

" Hey hey come back here. We're not through with you yet." Donkey told Shrek.

" Well I'm through with you." Shrek told them.

" Uh-uh. You know with you it's always ' Me, me, me!'. Well guess what! Now it's my turn! So just shut up and pay attention! You are mean to me. You insult me and you don't appreciate anything that I do! At least Kobe and Max actually cared about me right now. But you, you push me around or push me away!!" Donkey finished.

" Yeah? If I treated you so bad, how come you came back?!" Shrek wondered.

" Because that's what friends do! They forgive each other!" Donkey told Shrek as Kobe and Max nodded their heads in agreement.

" Oh yeah, you're right Donkey. I forgive you three... for stabbin' me in the back!" Shrek yelled before going into the outhouse and slamming the door. The three animals all groaned angrily.

" You're so wrapped up in layers, onion boy, you're afraid of your own feelings." Donkey stated.

" Go away." Shrek told him.

" There you are, doing it again just like you did to Fiona. All she ever did was like you. Maybe even love you." Donkey said.

" You're not wrong there Donkey." Kobe said in agreement.

" Love me? She said I was ugly, a hideous creature. I heard the four of you talking." Shrek told them.

" She wasn't talking about you, she was talking about... somebody else." Donkey said as Kobe and Max nodded in agreement once again. Shrek opened the door and came out.
