Chapter 5

In the evening, Shrek was preparing himself for dinner while Kobe was eating chicken from her plate. She faced the window to see Donkey looking in sadly at them. She smiled and waved at him then he waved back and went away from the window. All of a sudden, they heard a noise like the door opening.

" I thought I told you to stay outside!!"
Shrek yelled to Donkey.

" I am outside!" Donkey assured him.

Shrek looked down at Kobe and Max.

" It wasn't me Shrek." Kobe said.

" Me neither." Max said in agreement.

Shrek actually believed them. They heard skittering coming from inside the house. Kobe's heart sank when she saw a shadow run by. She hid under her blanket on her bed in fright. There was also a crash so Shrek went to see where it came from. Kobe slowly took a peep and felt like throwing up. At Shrek's dinner table, there were three blind mice stumbling around the table.

" Well gents, it's a far cry from the farm, but what choice do we have?"
The 1st mouse said.

" Well it's not home but it'll do just fine." The 2nd mouse said.

Kobe and Max walked over to the mice to see what they're doing. She introduced herself to them.

" Um hi there. I'm Kobe and this is Max and well.. see I'm a cat and.." but gets cut off as the mice started screaming.

" A CAT?!!!RUN!!!" The 1st mouse shouted while running around.

" SHE'S GONNA EAT US!!!" The 2nd mouse shouted as all three mice started running around the table.

" No no no I'm not gonna eat you! Okay? I won't hurt you!!" Kobe said trying to get their attention.

" You won't? But you're a cat and cats eat mice." The 1st mouse said.

" This might shock you but I don't EAT mice." Kobe said nervously.

" Oh okay." The 3rd mouse said.

The 3rd mouse sat and bounced on Shrek's squid.

" What a lovely bed!" The 3rd mouse said.

" Gotcha!" Shrek said as he grabbed the mouse from the squid. The mouse felt something in Shrek's Left ear.

" I found some cheese!!" He said as took an bite of ear wax candle then spits it out.

" Blech! Awful stuff!!" The 3rd mouse exclaimed.

The other mice stumbled as the 3rd mouse jumped from the squid to a spoon, catapulting food into Shrek's and Kobe's faces.

" Is that you Gordo?" The 1st mouse asked.

" How did you know?" Gordo asked.

Shrek scooped the mice off the dinner table.

" What are you doing in our house?!!" Shrek yelled as he was about to throw them out. All of a sudden he felt something hit him making him drop the mice. Shrek, Kobe and Max looked to see 7 dwarves that shoved a woman obviously Snow White, in her glass coffin, onto the table.

" Hey! Oh no no no no dead broad off the table!" Shrek said trying to push the coffin off the table.

"Where are supposed to put her? The bed's already taken." One of the dwarves said causing Shrek and Kobe to look at him confused.

Shrek, Kobe and Max rushed to the bedroom door and opened it. They were shocked to see a wolf dressed in a nightie in Shrek's bed.

" What?" The wolf asked looking at the ogre and the cat.

" Um you're in someone's bed. That's what." Kobe responded with a weirded out look.

Shrek dragged the wolf by the scruff of the neck. " I live in a swamp! I put up signs! I'm a terrifying ogre! What can I do to get a little privacy?!!" He yelled as he threw the wolf out the front door. After that Shrek along with Kobe and Max were completely shocked to see a whole lot of fairy tale creatures around the place.

" Where did they even come from?" Max whispered to Kobe.

" I don't know." Kobe whispered back.

" Oh no. No, no, nooo!" Shrek said in frustration. Kobe and Max looked around to see Regufee tents everywhere, a pied piper, and three bears huddling around a campfire with several of Santa's elves. Shrek was completely overwhelmed by the chaos but Kobe and Max were busy looking around the place despite Kobe being very shy around a crowd of people.

They noticed Shrek about to shout so they covered their ears for what's about to happen.

" WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY SWAMP!!!!" Shrek shouted in frustration causing everyone to stop and look at him. Shrek tried to round the creatures up as they ran around in terror. He kept yelling at them to get out but a bunch of elves and fairies ran into his house. He and his pets glared at Donkey they assume had something to do with his.

" Hey don't look at me I didn't invite them." Donkey said to them. A wooden puppet named Pinocchio spoke up.

" Well gosh, no one invited us." Pinocchio said.

" What?!!" Shrek exclaimed.

" Then why are you all here?!!" Kobe asked.

" We were forced to come here." Pinocchio responded.

" By who?!" Shrek asked. One of the tree pigs spoke up.

" Lord Farquaad. He huffed und he puffed und he— signed the eviction notice." The third pig said.

Kobe couldn't help but feel bad for them since they were evicted but she knew that her owner Shrek wasn't gonna let them stay.

" All right. Who knows where this... Farquaad guy is?" Shrek asked out loud. The creatures didn't say anything except Donkey.

" Oh, I do! I know where he is!" Donkey said hopping up and down.

" Does anyone else know where to find him?" Shrek asked out loud as he was annoyed with Donkey saying 'me' so many times.

" Anyone at all?!!" Shrek asked out loud again. The creatures kept pointing at each other. Kobe was getting sick and tired of hearing Donkey saying ' Pick me' so many times.

" Shrek just pick Donkey so that he can shut up already." Kobe whispered in annoyance. Shrek sighed softly when she said that.

" Okay fine." Shrek said in annoyance. He then yelled " Attention all.... Fairy tale things! Do not get comfortable. Your welcome is officially worn out. I'm gonna see this guy Farquaad right now, and get you all off my land and back where to you came from!" Everything was silent for a bit.

Everyone started cheering on after Shrek said that. Shrek pointed at Kobe and Max then at Donkey saying " You three are coming with me." " Alright that's what I like to hear, man- Shrek, Donkey, Kobe and Max, four stalwart friends off on a whirlwind, big city adventure. I love it!"

Donkey caught up to the trio as they took off in search of Farquaad and danced along side as they exited the swamp.

" 🎵On the road again.🎵" Donkey sang. " Sing it with me y'all!" He said. Then he continued singing. " 🎵 I can't wait to get the road again...🎵". He didn't have time to finish when Shrek said " What did I say about singing?!!"

" Well can I whistle it?" Donkey asked.

" No." Max responded in annoyance.

" Can I hum it?" Donkey asked.

" Alright go ahead and hum it." Kobe said.

Donkey started humming as they all into the forest to start their journey.
