Chapter 12

As they were still walking with Fiona on Shrek's shoulder, Donkey and Fiona were chatting while Kobe and Max listened.

" Okay, so here's another question. Say there's a woman that digs you right, but you don't really like her that way. How do you let her down real easy so her feeling aren't hurt, but you don't get burned to a crisp and eaten? How do you do that?" Donkey asked the princess.

" You just tell her that she's not your true love. Everyone knows what happens when you find your true... Ooof!" She said cut off by Shrek giving her a deliberate readjustment that sent her bouncing. She was annoyed with the ogre.

" Hey! The sooner we get to DuLoc the better!" Fiona said in annoyance.

" Oh yeah you're gonna love it princess! It's beautiful!" Donkey said excitedly.

Kobe and Max nodded their heads in agreement.

" And what of my groom-to-be? Lord Farquaad? What's he like?" Fiona asked. Shrek noticed a nearby pond. He dumped Fiona unceremoniously on the ground and moved to the pond to wash up.

" Well, let me put it this way, Princess. Men of Farquaad's stature are in short supply." Shrek said with a smile to Donkey, Kobe and Max.

" I dunno Shrek. There are those who think a little of him." Donkey chuckled.
The males broke up with laughter but not Kobe.

" Stop it! Stop it, the three of you!" Fiona said annoyingly. Shrek regained control of himself after that.

" You're just jealous you can never measure up to a great ruler like Lord Farquaad!" Fiona reminded Shrek.
Shrek finished washing up and headed back along with Donkey, Kobe and Max following him. They walked past Fiona and continued on their way.

" Yeah, well, maybe you're right, Princess. But I'll let you do the measuring when you see him tomorrow. Hearing that, she stopped cold and looked back over her shoulder at the setting sun.

" Tomorrow? It'll take that long? Shouldn't we stop to make camp?" Fiona asked nervously. Kobe and Max looked back at her in confusion. Why would she want to stop to make camp?

" No it'll take longer. We should keep going." Shrek replied.

" But there's robbers in the woods?" Fiona said agitated as she was looking around. Kobe and Max looked at each other with weirded out looks on their faces.

" Whoa! Time out, guys! Camp definitely is starting to sound good to me!" Donkey said worried.

" I have to admit that the princess might have a point though but I'm not sure." Kobe said as she started to sweat.

" Hey, come on. I'm scarier than anything we're gonna see in this forest." Shrek said sarcastically as he continued walking. Fiona jumped in front of him and blocking him.

" I need to find somewhere to camp NOW!!!" Fiona yelled causing Shrek, Donkey, Kobe and Max to stop in their tracks, taken aback by her outburst. All four glanced at each other which indicated their surprise.

They heard a loud noise and slit of light cams into view. Shrek is rolling a large boulder from the mouth of the cave.

" Hey, over here!" Shrek called out to the others. They all joined him.

" Shrek, we can do better than that. I don't think this is fit for a princess." Donkey admonished.

Fiona was more concerned with the sunset approaching. She grew more urgent.

" No, no, it's perfect. It just needs a few homey touches." Fiona said urgently causing Kobe to look at her confused but nodded her head in agreement anyway. Shrek rolled his eyes looking into the cave.
