Naven's life had left him and his arms released me. He was sinking from me inch by inch.
I couldn't reach him.
Why was I still able to breathe?
This wasn't supposed to happen.
If I was to be alive I would need him with me.
I can't just live without him either.
I started to suffocate and rethink my beliefs.
What if I could get better? Have a normal life? Live in peace? Dance in the rain?
Wasn't the pain just all in my head? Hadn't Naven healed my heart enough already?
"You can't die on me," I heard Naven's voice in my head. "You know deep down you don't want to."
Naven...
"We can be each other's strength."
I see now...
"You can be my crutch for my broken leg and I can be all your hugs when your sad."
Why couldn't I before?
"You be the moon that lights my darkest nights and I'll be the rain that you love to dance in."
Thank you...
"We can be happy. I believe in us."
I don't want to die.

I woke up and saw Naven sleeping peacefully beside me.
Was it a dream?
Was this the afterlife?
Did he not fall with me?
I felt his cheek and he shot up immediately, "The baby's coming!"
I rose an eyebrow, "Um."
He sighed and put a hand to his chest, "You've been scaring me recently Kaia. I even had a nightmare about y-"
He looked at me for a second.
So he felt it too?
"I..." I started remembering, "I saved us?"
He stared at me, trying to process his thoughts.
He smiled after a moment.
He had finally made me realize what he's wanted me to realize all this time.
"I'm glad you did. I wanted to live a while longer with you, love." He felt both the pain and relief in his chest.
I curled up under his arm and he sighed happily as he looked down at me.
He was just about to lay back down to go back to sleep, but I immediately started digging my nails into his thigh, screaming.
The contractions started to hit bad.
"Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit."
That's all I kept hearing him say as he started to pace around the room.
I was the one in pain.
Why was he the one panicking?!
He threw on a cloak around his pajamas. His hair was still a mess. He didn't bother to clean up his appearance now.
He carried me out of bed.
"Naven," I started breathing heavily, "my hair-"
"Don't worry about that right now." He ran outside to his horse and put me on the saddle before he got behind me.
"Naven! My shoes-" I screamed.
"Stop worrying about how you look, woman!"
I turned my head, "Excuse m-" I winced suddenly "Owww!"
He sighed and held the reins, giving the horse a tap and we both started going to the emergency room.
I was so stubborn when I was in pain and he did his best to remain calm. Especially now that I was laid in a bed, squeezing the hell out of his hand.
"W-why is she screaming like this?" Naven tried not to panic.
One of the nurses answered, "Birth is a painful thing."
He was holding back tears and he was sure a bone cracked in one of his fingers as I hollered.
Not his hand too!

(30 mins later)
Naven smiled and looked at the two babies that were sucking from each of my breasts.
"Well they do have one thing in common with you."
I was sweating, "What's that?"
He finished wrapping the gauze around the hand I squeezed to death.
I held back a laugh.
He shook his head and looked at his mini hims, "Your love for food, of course."
The nurse came back in, "Have you decided what you'll name your boy and girl?"
Naven looked at me. We both hadn't thought of anything.
I did remember him telling me stories about a sun princess sacrificing her life to make my powers whole again.
What was her name again?
Right.
"Liara Nevan, and Kieno Rain ."
Naven's eyes widened then he chuckled to himself, "Where did Nevan come from?"
I looked embarrassed, "It's just your name backwards."
Why was he not surprised?
He did that charming laugh again and kissed my head.
The nurse smiled at us both, "Liara Nevan and Kieno Rain it is."

(Somewhere in the future)
Naven pushed me on a tire swing as I watched my five children play amongst themselves.
He hummed as I sang.
🎶"And once again we'll dance in the rain...dance in the rain..."🎶
He stopped pushing me and took my hand.
He was soaking in the gold light of the sun hitting my skin and my hair tied in his vibrant green scarf.
I bit my lip seductively as I got off the swing and he spun me around before holding my back close to his stomach.
He whispered in my ear, 🎶"And just maybe it would drown out all our sorrows, terror, and pain..."🎶
I rocked my bottom into his pants and he held my hips, smirking.
I turned to face him, smiling as I brushed his curls from his eyes to meet his gaze. 🎶"Only chasing after the love that makes us sane..."🎶
"I'll be the moon..." he kissed my head as it began to sprinkle, and the kids started to squeal and come running both of our way.
"You be the rain."
