thirteen 🪐 apology

january 1st, 5:00pm.

"y/n. y/n. y/n!"

you woke up to your mother shaking you violently. it scared you half to death.

"huh..?" you replied with an exhausted tone in your voice. she lifted your heavy blanket off of you, causing a shiver to run up your body. instinctively, you wrapped your arms around yourself.

"kageyama-kun is here to see you! get up!"

"oh-"

you put your hands down to your sides whilst glancing over at your door. and there he was—standing there anxiously. you immediately sprung up, sitting upright on your bed now.

"you can come in, darling." she spoke to kageyama in a motherly tone, in which he came in and sat down in front of you. you smiled awkwardly at his presence.

"i can almost feel the tension between you two." you hear your mom sigh softly. you and kageyama turned your heads to look at her. was it that noticeable? "so ill leave. you can sort things out." your mom headed for the door with one swift movement.

"thanks, mom." you said as she closed the door behind her. you fixed your gaze back over at kageyama. you watched as his soft lips parted slightly, but no words came out.

"hello." you eventually finally broke the silence. you couldn't remember the last time you were this quiet in front of him.

"hinata told me what happened." kageyama fretted, getting straight to his point. he took in a deep sigh. "thanks for taking me home."

"yeah."

"but i wanted to say that i was sorry."

"okay."

the two of you sat in silence after your words. you didn't know what else to say.

you felt kageyama take your hands, in which you didn't hesitate. his hands were cold; almost too cold. but they felt soft against yours. you watched as he pressed your hands onto his heart.

"i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i really mean it."

you felt kageyama's heartbeat pulsing repeatedly underneath your palm. your face heated up with that small gesture.

"you don't have to say anything. but i just wanted to apologize. i know i made you upset. i don't remember anything, but that's not an excuse, really. i shouldn't have took the drink. it was a stupid thing to do. i'm sorry." kageyama paused before speaking again.

"and if i said or did anything to hurt you, i'm sorry for that too."

you felt kageyama let go of you. you placed your hands back on your lap, almost missing his cool touch. you balled your hands into fists as you listened to his soft words.

"and thank you for putting up with me, really. you're too good to me. yeah. it won't happen again." you watched an awkward smile brush over his face. you did the same.

"thank you, tobio."

im so sorry for the short chapter <\3 i keep getting story block and its such a pain but i promise it'll get better
i started a new book too!! so ill be doing my best to alternate between the two. thank u all so much for ur patience i really appreciate it
