Tommy

It was raining, as we climbed up a hill.
"Jackson County, must mean we're close to Jackson City." Ellie motioned to a sign
"Yea sure hope so." Joel said quietly.
"So what happened between you two?" I asked
"What?"
"Well you guys aren't together, so what happened."
"Well Tommy saw the world one way and I saw it another."
"So he joined the Fireflies."
"Yeah, Marlene promised him hope, but eventually Tommy quit that too."
"And he's gonna help us?"
"I guess we are going to find that out."

We made our way across what Joel called a hydroelectric power plant. Still don't know what it does.
I looked back and saw the view.
"Wow."
"What is it?" Ellie walked up to me.
"This view. It's so pretty."
Ellie smiled and grabbed my arm.
"Come on, Joel found something." I followed her.
We found big metal doors and as Joel pulled at them, a bunch of people appeared at the top with guns out, so I instinctively pulled mine out too, Ellie did the same.

"Tell the kids to drop their weapons."
"Ellie, Logan. Do as the lady says."
"What's your business here?"
"We didn't know the place was occupied we were just trying to make our way through."
"Through to where?"
Then a mans voice came out from the other side.
"They're alright."
"Wait you know these people?"
"Well i know him." He looked at Joel.
"He's my goddamn brother."
"Tommy." Joel had a smile.
"Holy shit, Joel." Tommy walked up to Joel and gave him a hug.
"How're you doing baby brother?"
"Let me look at you. Damn, you got old."
"Easy, it's gonna happen to you too."
The lady came up to us.
"Ellie and Logan right?"
"Yeah" We said in unison as Joel turned to Maria.
"Ma'am, thanks for not blowing my head off."
"Well would've been embarrassing considering your my brother in law"
Joel looked at Tommy with a surprised but happy for him face.
"We all gotta get wrangled up at some point."
Tommy said with a smirk.
"You guys hungry?" Maria looked at Ellie and I.
"Very"
"Starving"
Joel and Tommy started walking. We followed Maria as we saw a horse.
"Woah a horse!"
We ran up to the horse.
"Aw man, I haven't ridden one in so long." I started petting the horses side.
"Where did you learn where to ride a horse?"
"Winston, a friend of ours in the zone used to give us lessons."
Someone came on Maria's radio talking about a test of some kind.
"I'd rather eat with the kids."
"I'll go, it's my turn anyway." Tommy left and Joel followed him.
Maria took us to a cafeteria looking place and gave us some food.
"So, what brings you guys through here?"
Maria asked as Ellie and I ate.
"Well it's a long story." Ellie told Maria, not wanting her to know why we were looking for Tommy.
"You guys brother and sister?"
We would always get that question.
"No, definitely not." I smirked.
"Oh. Ohhhh." It clicked in Maria.
"What?" We both asked.
"You guys are dating huh?" She chuckled.
"Well i uh wouldn't say-" We got cut off by sirens.
"What do those sirens mean?" Ellie asked Maria.
"We're under attack. Get behind me."
"No disrespect Maria, but I can handle myself." I pulled out my pistol and started walking towards the door.
"Logan!" Ellie called me.
"I'll be right back." I looked at her as she stayed with Maria.

I took out all the bandits that were in our area as we saw Tommy and Joel walk in the room.

"Tommy." Maria went and hugged him.
"Are you okay?" Joel walked up to Ellie.
"Joel! We were just in the middle of eating snd then there were these sirens and then some guys started coming and Logan-"
"Are you hurt?" Joel cut off Ellie's rambling.
"No, Logan protected us."
I smiled but then I saw Tommy's saddened look.

--Time Skip--

We were outside and I heard Tommy and Maria arguing.

She started walking towards Joel.
"You! If anything happens to him, it's on you!"
He sighed as Maria walked away.
"Alright, i'll take that girl off your hands." Tommy said to Joel. As i heard that I stormed up to Joel, Ellie walked away.
"You aren't going to take her? Why the fuck not? She trusts you!"
"Tommy knows how to get there-"
"Bullshit!"
"Logan I-"
"NO JOEL. Jesus christ man, just do your fucking job." I could feel my face getting red with anger.

Someone told Tommy through the radio that Ellie had stolen a horse and ran away.
All i felt was panic.
"I can't lose you again Ellie." I said under my breath.

Joel and Tommy got on horses, and I got on the back of Joel's horse. We followed horse tracks leading to the woods, but we got stopped by a couple bandits.

After taking them out, we kept going on our horses. Tommy spotted the horse Ellie took standing in front of a ranch.

I got off the horse and ran inside.
"ELLIE!"
"I'm up here!"
I ran towards where I heard the voice and saw her laying next to a window.
I ran up to her and gave her a hug.
"Don't do that to me ever again, okay? You fucking scared me." She hugged me back.
"I'm sorry, Logan." I heard her sniff.

Joel then walked into the room and scoffed.
"Come on, we're leaving."
Ellie got up from where she was sitting.
"And if i say no?"
"Do you even know what you're life means? Huh? Running off like that, putting yourself at risk, it's pretty goddamn stupid."
They started to get into a heated argument as I saw Tommy motion for me to go towards him from outside the room.
I could still hear them.
"Well, I guess we're both disappointed with each other then."
"What do you want from me?"
"Admit that you wanted to get rid of me the whole time!"
"Tommy knows this area better than-"
"Oh, fuck that. What are you so afraid of? That i'm gonna end up like Sam? I can't get infected! I can take care of myself!"
"How many close calls have we had?"
"Well we seem to be doing alright so far."
"And now you'll do even better with Tommy!"
As Joel raised his voice there was a silence.
"I'm not her you know."
Oh, Ellie.
"What?"
"Maria told me about Sarah-"
"Ellie! You are treading on some, mighty thin ice here."
"I'm sorry about your daughter Joel. But i have lost people too."
"You have no idea, what loss is!"
"Everyone, everyone i've known has either died, or left me, everyone fucking except for you and Logan! So don't tell me i'll be safer with anyone else, because the truth is i'd be more scared."
There was another pause. I put my head down as I heard Ellie's voice crack.
"You're right... you're not my daughter. And i sure as hell ain't your dad. And we are going our separate ways."
Tommy and I heard people arrive at the door.
Tommy ran in the room.
"Keep your voice down, we're not alone."
I ran into the room.
"There's two walking in." I announced as I walked over to Ellie.
"Hey you, i'm sorry." I kissed the top of her head as she kept her head down.

After a few minutes, we had wiped out all the bandits.
