"So, Fey, summer is fast approaching. Where do you want to go for vacation?" Dad asked at breakfast

"Anywhere, kayong bahala," I lazily replied and ate my oatmeal

"How about we go to Bali, Indonesia? There's a famous beach and there are many tourists that come there for vacation. How's that sounds?" he smiled and glanced at mom

Mom smiled and nodded. "That sounds nice," she then looked at me. "What do you think Fey?"

"Sure..."

"We've already been to many beaches here in the Philippines. Boracay, Coron palawan, Siargao, El Nido and the list goes on. For a change, let's travel out of the country naman."

Tumango lang ako at nag-usap na silang dalawa ni mama.

Uminom muna ako ng tubig bago magsalita. "I have something to say."

They stopped and looked at me. "What is it Fey?" my mom asked

"After school, I will attend a taekwondo class. Just so you know."

Kumunot ang noo ni papa. "Taekwondo? Why?"

I smiled weakly. "I just want to practice self-defense."

Nagkatinginan sila ni mama.

"But that's why I hired bodyguards to protect you in case you're in danger," he explained

I was in danger last time when Archie harassed me but he didn't even do anything!

"I know but I want to try it myself. I want to be independent when the time comes."

He seems puzzled by my statement. I'm not sure if he'll allow me or not. 

"It's okay Fey. You can join. It's a good thing that you want to learn self-defense. I know you want to protect yourself as well," said mom

I smiled and looked at my father. Mukhang hindi padin siya sang-ayon.

"I mean I'm just worried about you Fey. It's dangerous. Paano kung mabalian ka ng buto? E 'di mag-papaospital pa tayo? Dagdag gastos pa."

As if money is a problem for him. 

"I won't, Dad."

Mom squeezed his hand. Napatingin si papa sa kanya. "Stop overreacting hon. I'm sure professional naman yung magtuturo sa kanya."

Dad sighed. "I know but I don't think she can handle it."

"I can, Dad," I convinced him

Tumingin siya sa'kin pati kay mama. In the end, he finally agreed pero mukhang napilitan lang.

He sighed heavily. "Fine. Just make sure you won't regret it. Huwag kang mag-inarte sa huli kapag hindi mo kinaya. Don't say to me that I didn't warn you."

Tipid akong ngumiti pabalik. "I'll get going."

"Ingat," pahabol ni mama

Tumayo na ako at tinalikuran sila pero nagsalita ulit si papa. "Same rules Fey. Susunduin ka pa rin ng driver after your taekwondo class."

As soon as I arrive at school, it appears that everyone kept throwing glances at me. Hindi ko sila pinansin.

"My God, paano siya naka-pingwit ng Lasalista?"

"I know right? Ang landi naman niya."

"Why are you all surprised? It's freaking Felicity. She can get whatever and whoever she wants. Even men!"
