Sᴀᴋᴜʀᴀ's POV
Nobunaga had come back into the room as I sat there on the stone. His eyes landed on me, surprise. "You didn't leave?"
"I wanted to see your boss." I told him. I plan on leaving after that, the moment I can.
"Then we'll wait." He sat down in front of the door again, though there was no point now. It felt like hours of silence before I straightened up.
"I'm sorry." He looked at me. "For what I said...about your friend."
"No need." He looked at his shodachi. "I get where you're coming from." He said. I looked at my wrapped hand. Clenching it slightly.
"I'd probably do the same thing for my friends, Gon and Killua mean a lot to me. If you had killed them..." I told him I didn't need to end it. He knew what I was saying.
"If you think you could, go ahead and try." He replied. He was serious. I shook my head pulling out my phone.
"I'll take the offer once I'm healed." I said. My leg, stomach, bruised hand, and broken finger. I sent an I'm okay text to Killua before putting my phone away.
"All you have is your hand." He told me. Right, that's a lie.
"No, I have this too." I lifted my shirt showing the bandage that was wrapped around. He looked at it then at me.
"And your friends left you like this?"
"Not willingly. I can take care of myself thank you. My leg is messed up to but not as bad." I assured him. I stretched and then stood up. "Hey, what do you know about Machi and my dad?"
I wonder if there is anything between them, cause if they end up together I'm moving far far away. "She doesn't like him, if that's what you're asking. No one really does."
Understandable. It was back to silence after that, but I felt more comfortable. It felt like more hours when we finally left the room and headed to the open area.
A new guy was sitting with a book, on a chair higher than the others. Everyone else was minding their own business, and my dad was sitting in a window. Who knows how he got up there?
I looked at the man in the chair, he has to be the boss right? His hair was slicked back, with a cross on his forehead. Green balls hung from his ears. I've never seen earrings like that.
I stepped up to the chair when they left me alone. I'm sure I was able to speak to him on my own. "You're the boss right?" I had to be sure before I proceeded.
He shut the book with one hand staring at me before he put the book to the side. "Machi told me that Morow's daughter was here." He stood up and I rocked on my feet.
"I wanted to talk." He stared at me and I smiled. Taking that as a yes. He started walking and I followed, feeling Hisoka watch us the whole way.
"I'm not interested in joining." I figured I should state that now. "However, I did want to know if you had any ideas for a specialist. That's what you are right?"
I was looking around, it made sense to stay in a place like this. They're a group that probably made plenty of money, but money draws attention so run down is safer to stay hidden.
Hiding in unexpected places usually brought more protection. "Yes." He replied. My first specialist.
"So can you help me?" I asked him and he laughed. What's funny?
"You don't want to join but you expect my help." He stared at me. "You help me, I'll help you."
Help him? "Like what?" As long as we aren't hurting anyone. Is helping him really worth it? All for help with an ability, surely it's not an even trade.
Maybe me getting a ability also benefits him in the end. Though he probably wouldn't survive long enough for it. Not if Kurapika gets hold of more of them.
"The daughter of the Nostrade. A girl would be more comfortable to be around. You help me get her, and get inside the auction and you'll get your ability." Doesn't sound terrible. Yet.
"Is there going to be death?" Probably so much death. I wonder what they have planned.
"Yes." Thanks for the honesty.
"Are you going to kill her?"
"No." Good.
"Will I have to kill someone?"
"No." Okay, I'm sold.
"Then we have a deal." Even if he doesn't kill her it's best to make sure.
"No you don't." A voice said from behind me. We both looked at them and I sighed. No surprise to see Hisoka there, lurking as always.
"That's not your decision. The faster I help him the closer to where I need to be and the better I can protect my friends." I looked at the boss man. "I'm already here I might as well. The sooner I get this over with, the sooner I never have to see any of you ever again."
He stared at me, clicking his tongue and shook his head. "Just like your mother." Glad to know I picked up a lot from her and not from him. I like to think she'd be on my side with this.
"Rest up, we got a big night." I nodded and walked off, I had to make sure I got his name before I left. I took my phone to check up with Killua to let him know what's happening.
Just to ease his worries for a little bit. It's been a rough day, I'm gonna try to keep as many people alive as I can.
Which probably won't be many considering I'm walking with a guy who kills for a living, but it won't stop me from trying anyways.
