Pairing: James 'Bucky' Barnes
Imagine: Helping your boyfriend settle into life post-freeze means helping him relearn how to relax-and detect sarcasm.
Warnings: This is a short and sweet classic 2015 imagine where the team lives at the tower and life is good mkay thanksLiving at Stark Tower in the middle of NYC with a bunch of superheroes was certainly.....interesting. Yes, it could be stressful and fast paced. But it could also be peaceful and exciting and fun. Every Avengers member (and related tower residents) had their own quirks, habits, schedules, etc. Once you got used to those it was relatively easy to live amongst them.
Bucky Barnes was a relatively new addition to the tower equation. After a long recovery that consisted of essentially erasing Hydra from his mind, he was ready to be released back into the world. You were a personal assistant for Pepper the first time you met Bucky. It was an awkward meeting, though with your desire to befriend everyone you met it was only a matter of time before he cracked.
Before too long the friends became best friends, which eventually turned into something more. You hated to use labels like "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" when you felt like so much more to each other, but those were the terms you'd settled on–for now.
You moved in together shortly after you each (rather awkwardly) confessed your love for one another and every day spent together was like a dream come true. But eventually, one day, you had to wake up.
Buck had a really close call during training with Tony. Though Tony had done his best to rile the man up, ultimately Bucky couldn't take it and snapped. They got lucky no one was seriously hurt, but after that he was sent away for some intense treatment.
For months you lived without him, without your other half. It was miserable to be honest, but did help you realize just how much you loved him. And he seemed to feel the same way, for as soon as he was cleared and returned to the tower he swept you up into his arms and didn't put you down for a good long while.
You adored being by his side again, giving him the inside scoop on what had been going on in the tower. As he settled back into his life, the same yet still somewhat new, you were there to help every step of the way. Slowly yet surely, the former assassin began to transform and bloom into a flirty, witty, and bright young man.
There were a few things Bucky still struggled with from time to time, but that was to be expected. Hydra held him for a long time and the years he missed out on wouldn't be so easy to overcome. He wasn't very good at picking up on social cues or picking up undertones, so you needed to be blunt and sometimes explain if/when you were joking, being serious, etc.
It took some patience, but you never wavered. You loved him.
His cluelessness often led to incredibly funny circumstances, such as the time he became extremely concerned after Tony uttered, "God, these meetings are driving me up the wall."
After explaining that Tony was not, in fact, going to attempt to drive a car up the wall, Bucky had flushed beet red but you only smiled. It was cute, and very endearing.
So that was your life, helping the love of your life and working amongst your best friends.

One day in particular you were enjoying a day off. Pepper was very good about not overworking you, and would force you to take a day or two off when she sensed you getting overwhelmed.
This was one of those days. So after she insisted you take the day off you were in the kitchen on the main living floor making breakfast.
The team was scattered about; some were on missions, some had taken the day away from the tower, and some were just straight up sleeping in. You were one of the first to rise, per usual, so you decided you'd cook up a big breakfast for the rest of the team when they finally got up.
