Pairing: Derek Morgan x Reader

Imagine: Working professionally with Aaron Hotchner and his son leads you to eventually meet some of the people Aaron himself works with. You catch the eye of one in particular.

Warnings: None

"Hi Mr. Hotchner, my name is (y/n). It's a pleasure to meet you."

The man standing across from you shook your hand before the both of you sat. "Just Aaron is fine, thank you for meeting with me."

"Of course, I'm always happy to meet with parents. Maggie said you wanted to discuss your son, Jack?"

You pulled out his paperwork as Aaron nodded.

"Yes. He's been having a hard time lately. My wife, his mother, was killed a couple years ago. We went through the usual treatment and therapy follow up then but stopped after a while. I thought things were going ok but...he's just been struggling and I think he needs help."

"Alright, so he's had therapy before, this won't be anything new for him?"

"Correct."

"Ok, well I got his past files transferred, I can go through the therapists we have at this practice and go over what they typically specialize in, see if you think any of them might be good fits? And we can schedule a time for Jack to come in and meet everyone if that would make you guys feel more comfortable. Whatever you two need we can accommodate."

"That would be great, thank you."

You smiled at the man.

"Alright then, lets get started."

Later that night you were uncorking a bottle of wine and collapsing into bed. It'd been a long day and you were desperate for some relaxation.

People asked you all the time how you handled doing what you did. Running your own practice that worked especially with children and mental illness was tough–but someone needed to help those kids. And who better than you?

Sipping your wine you finished up some charts from the day. Your career had certainly been a roller coaster. You worked everywhere from schools to in-patient care to being a behavioral therapist. With a lot of blood, sweat, and tears you'd acquired enough experience and education to finally open up your own practice. You'd done plenty of work directly with patients and children and this next chapter of your life was going to be spent at a higher level.

You managed 5 therapists who worked under your practice and you loved your job. You handled intakes, helped pair new clients with the therapist best suited for them, worked on funding and grants, and did a lot of work out in the community.

This all meant you were extremely busy and work dominated your life. You didn't really have time for anything else.

You finished your glass of wine, collecting all your paperwork and filing it away. You had plenty more work to do but it was nearly midnight and you needed sleep.

Sleep equaled a happy therapist which equaled happy patients.

The following week you were sitting in your office, going over the months budgeting. You hated dealing with money but unfortunately it was necessary to keep the place up and running.

A soft knock interrupted and you called out for the person to come in.

Maggie, your receptionist, peeked her head in. "Sorry to bother you, but Amelia just finished her session with Jack Hotchner and his father isn't here yet. She's got another client coming in now and told me to tell you."
