You hated a lot of things. Lima beans, confrontation, and shaving just to name a few.
But more than any of those, you hated being the new kid. Especially halfway through senior year. Who wanted to be the new kid in a class of people who've been together since they were toddlers? Not you.
So as you walked through the doors of Forks High School for your first day you were feeling pretty glum. You checked in in the front office, trying to ignore the receptionist's looming timeclock. She only had a few more years.
She handed you a timesheet and a map then you were off again, navigating the way to math 200.
You were studying the map, trying to decipher whether or not you had it upside down, when you bumped into someone. You stumbled back a step, looking up in alarm.
"I am so sorry," you apologized to the brunette girl you ran into. "I wasn't paying any attention to where I was going."
The girl readjusted her glasses before giving you a warm smile. "Hey no worries. You're new, right? Do you need help finding first period?"
You nodded sheepishly. "I'm (Y/N)."
"Angela, nice to meet you. Now let's get you to first period."
—
Math 200 was as boring as it sounded. Angela helped you find the room, wishing you luck and promising to see you around. The teacher made you give an introduction to the class which you kept short and sweet. Then he sat you in the only empty seat next to a a girl with reddish brown hair and a bright pink sweater.
She'd introduced herself immediately as Jessica, launching into a long winded monologue about how she saw you run into Angela earlier and how the two were friends and that you just had to sit next to them at lunch and–
You tuned her out, not that she seemed to mind. Even when the teacher began the days lesson she still managed to whisper and go on. It was a bit impressive to be honest.
She had a long life ahead of her, evident by the 60 years ticking away above her. Good for her.
You stared down at your "new" math textbook, eyes wandering the doodled and crinkled pages while the teacher droned on.
"Are you coming?
You glanced up in surprise. Jessica stood with her bag on her shoulder, eyebrow raised. The classroom was quickly emptying around, class apparently dismissed.
You nodded, shoving your stuff into your bag and following the peppy girl. You wanted to draw as least possible attention to yourself as possible, and something told you that sticking with chatter box Jessica would keep you safe from other prying eyes.
So when she asked to see your timetable you handed it over and even smiled when she exclaimed that you two had the rest of the morning classes together. You let her drag you around to class and didn't argue when she sat next to you in every single one.
Finally, it was lunch time.
The Forks High School cafeteria was moderately sized, with cafeteria style lines and scattered tables filled with students.
You followed Jess through the line, grabbing a sandwich and drink. She led you over to a table where Angela and two boys already sat.
"(Y/n) this is Mike and Eric and you already know Ang. Guys this is (Y/N), she'll be sitting with us."
You waved awkwardly and sat down beside Angela. The boys pushed each other in an attempt to say hi to you first, making you rolling your eyes.
Jessica groaned, smacking them both upside the head. "Please, let's not do a Bella Swan repeat."
