Chapter One - The Dream

Ren's POV

I was in a flower field, but there were scraps all over the place. The flowers were two of my favorite flowers, stargazer lilies and dahlias. I was sitting up against a tree, just watching how the flowers danced in the wind.

"Hey, Ren. I'm back with some water," a boy from the other direction said.

I looked over, a big smile forming. "Thank you, brother!" I squealed. I took the glass of water from him. He had a large and friendly smile on, his eyes closed.
"Your welcome, big sis!" I took a sip of the cold water. It tasted different from all the other water I've ever tasted.

"It tastes so good! Where did you get it?" I said in awe. The boy chuckled and sat down next to me.

"I used it with my nen," he said with a small smile still on his lips.

"Teach me!" I demanded and so he started, but everything started to fade away.

I opened my eyes. "Hmm... another weird dream with the same little boy," I said to myself, sitting up in bed. I looked over at my alarm clock and my eyes went wide. It read 8:50 A.M. I had to get up at 10!
I plopped back into the mattress, but couldn't sleep. "Welp, looks like I'm gonna start off my day early," I said, stretching.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. "Come in," I said. In walked Illumi or the guy I call little brother. He is 24 and I'm 27, but he does act more mature sometimes. "What is it today?" I asked, getting out of bed and putting on a robe.

"Kil left, before doing so, he attacked Mother and Milluki. I might not be around for a while cause I'm going to do the Hunter Exam. Also, Mother wants you and I to try and get Kil back," he said.

"Okay, I've been bored, so I might tag along. I might find Kil on the way. Also, I might see you there... with your little disguise," I said the last part lower. He nodded, I nodded back. Then he left, I turned to face my dresser and pulled out a black skirt, a long sleeved slightly cropped shirt with holes in the sleeves for my thumbs, pulled out thigh-high black socks, undergarments, then headed towards my bathroom.

I closed and locked the bathroom door behind me. I set my clothing down on the counter. I stripped all my clothing and hopped into the shower. I started washing my body, knowing it would be the last one I'll take in days. 

After I finished the shower, I dried off and got dressed. When I was done getting dressed, I brushed my hair, then ran to my closet for my combat boots. I clenched my big toe and just like it was supposed to, a knife's blade popped out of the front of the boot.
I slightly smiled at it. Then my eyes looked over at a long mirror. I walked towards it taking in my appearance. My black combat boots were reflecting some light. My socks ended right before the skirt. The black skirt was long enough to cover my butt if I bent over. The cropped shirt was white and had a kitty on the front of it who was wearing an eyepatch.

When my eyes got to my head my eyes widened. "I forgot my headphones!" I ran to a hidden drawer in my closet and pulled out a pair of headphones that had black cat ears on it. They were obviously Bluetooth. I put them on and looked at my outfit. I was smiling at my reflection.
Knock knock. Someone knocked on my door. I walked over to answer it. Turning the door knob, I got a bad feeling about who was on the other side. I opened it and it was Illumi. "Oh hey, what are you still doing here, I thought you already left?" I asked.

"No, I want you to come with me. But if you have to, act like you don't know me, okay?" He said, sounding more serious than usual. I nodded.

"I'm about to be done. I just need my gloves," I said, walking back to my desk and grabbed my black fishnet gloves, then put them on. Also grabbing a pink and black chargeable duffel bag. It had outlines of cartoon cats. "Okay, I'm ready," I said, walking towards the door where Illumi was standing. I giggled by his serious face.

"What are you laughing at?" He asked, wearing a puzzled expression.

"You look so serious," I smiled, tilting my head at him. He smiled lightly and waved me to come. I followed and we told Father that we were going to be gone for a while and walked out the door.

"Is it alright if I?" I asked, pointing to my phone, ready to play my music. He nodded and I started to play my calming playlist as we ran to where a website told us where the exam will start.

~~ about 20 minutes later ~~

"Haha, I touched the door first," I said, sticking out my tongue at Illumi. He smiled a bit more than his small smile. Yesss, I love seeing this side to him and how I bring it out. Haha, my little bro bro.

I pushed the door open and we gave the chef the secret code. They told us to get into the back and we'll be brought down. On the way down, Illumi was placing in all of his pins. I put my headphones back onto my ears and started playing my music.
A jellybean like person was talking to us and handed us badges with numbers. Illumi, well Gittarackur, got 301 and I got 302. Even though I won the race, he was the one who got it. He stuck his tongue at me, just like I did a couple minutes ago. I started to giggle, but I hid it with my hand.
We both stepped out and a man started to approach us. Before he can even speak, I was right in front of him. I leaned down and whispered into his ear, "Are you really trying to trick me?" I could feel him trembling underneath me. I smiled a devilish smile. "Tonpa... I know what your intentions are," I said, then stood up straight. I put on a friendly and cute smile. "Bye, have a good one," I said, walking by him.
I unpaused my music and started walking away. I played my calming playlist, cause I was about to kill the man. As listening to my music, I heard a man screaming, interrupting my music. I growled.

I got up and appeared right in front of the man. I kicked the man that just screamed, in the throat. I hit a button, making the music stop. I caught his head before it could hit the floor, in a swift and easy move. "This is what you get for interrupting my music," I said in a harsh voice. Then turned his head until I heard a snap. I smirked and got up. I patted imaginary dust off then hit the same button I hit before, making my calming playlist play once more.
