Sunday
Hyunmi can't take her eyes off Wooyoung as he slides around his kitchen with his apron on.
"Do you need some help?" she offers. "It's fine, stay where you are and enjoy the view," he calls back, adding a smirk at the end. She glares into his back, hoping he can feel the scowl on her face.
Her twisted face slowly unravels into one of wonder again as she continues to watch him move. His black shirt's sleeve is rolled up to his elbow, revealing his toned forearms. His arms and hands move with skill and elegance, making it clear that he is quite familiar with cooking.
Hyunmi can't even lie to herself, he's very attractive when he cooks.
Although she can't see his face, she cannot get over how handsome he is. Wooyoung tuns for a second and the girl instantly whips her head away, picking up her phone and pretending to be busy with it.
Wooyoung chuckles lightly, though the girl doesn't hear it from the loud sizzling of the pan. He's well aware that she has been staring at his back the entire time and can't stop smiling to himself as he stirs the chicken around.
Hyunmi continues to steal sneaky glances at Wooyoung's back every few seconds, mesmerised. She doesn't know if it's Wooyoung's arms or the smell of the fragrant chicken- but she finds her mouth watering.
Embarrassed for even thinking these thoughts, she bites her lip and her face reddens.
"I forgot to say this before, but thank you for the painkillers last week. They really helped a lot," Hyunmi utters. Wooyoung freezes for a second before continuing. "I'm glad they got to you safely," is all he says back, continuing his task of cooking. He knows it's risky to put things in front of her door in the hallway of an apartment building but he couldn't help it. She seemed too annoyed to face him earlier on anyway and he couldn't just leave her in pain like that.
"It's done!" Wooyoung announces, dramatically adding the chicken onto two plates. He quickly places rice into two bowls and dances back to the table with dishes balancing in his hands and arms.
Hyunmi silently observes the steaming glossy orange chicken, aroma of the sauce evoking hunger in her. She can't even remember the last time she had a homemade meal.
Wooyoung jumps to take a seat in front of her. "I hope you enjoy!" he smiles, already digging into his own food. She blinks twice while watching him stuff his mouth with chicken. The soft sunlight coming from the window behind him makes his beautiful hair glow from behind. It sets a warm atmosphere in the room, aside from the temperature being warm too.
As disgusted as she felt by the man in front of her, she must admit that he's pretty cute and sweet.
But that's what annoys her. She feels too conflicted. He's so likeable, but at the same time he does things that push Hyunmi away automatically.
She sighs quietly and decides to finally take her first bite. Her eyes widen when the flavours of the hot chicken fill her mouth. This taste is one she has never tasted before, it's one that she hasn't even experienced at restaurants.
As soon as she's finished one piece, she takes another immediately after and savours the taste again. She nearly tears up. This reminds her of her mother's cooking so much and she misses it. Having someone cook for you is a luxury Hyunmi could only dream about and it's making her emotional to know that this dream has finally come true.
She carries on with her meal happily, not noticing the man's eyes on her. He smiles fondly, watching each and every change of expression on her face. Either his food tastes so good that she's about to cry, or she's touched by something else. He can easily guess that it's the latter.
