Sorry I haven't updated this one in such a long time guys!
*Rebecca's POV:*
When Mrs. Hamptons pushes the door open the rest of the way a mop clatters onto the floor loudly.
"You know, opening other people's doors and coming into other people's homes uninvited is rude." I say
She turns giving me a death glare, and I do my best to hide my relief. When she goes to the next room I peek into the closet to see Bucky wedged on the ceiling, his arms digging in the a couple of holds, his feet braced. Tony, begrudgingly is laying on top of his back.
I hold my laugh back and shut the door quietly, sprinting into the kitchen after Mrs. Hamptons
"What did you steal?" She asks as soon as I step foot in there
"Excuse me?"
"Rebecca no one buys food for their home in so much excess, so what did you steal to pay for this? Or did you steal all of this" she says gesturing the the flour, eggs, milk, butter, bananas and some other things Steve managed to get.
"So you admit that I live here?" I ask and she groans walking to the living room.
She picks a picture up, the last one I haven't boxed. My parents. My parents and Seb.
"Ahh yes you did have a brother didn't you?" She says her voice sounding all around the empty house, and thin walls.
"Yes I did" I grit out
"Is that his jacket" She asks referring to Bucky's jacket still wrapped around my shoulders.
"yes" I say, and I do suppose I'm not lying, she smiles sarcastically sweetly and asks
"Killed in action right?" She asks but before I even have a chance to say something she continues "what a pity, such a handsome face. Maybe he could've sold, well sold some of himself to help you now."
"Oh I'm sorry I forgot that your husband cheated on you, it must have been because you're such a bitch." I spit out
Mrs. Hampton's walks up to me, and I step back but she follows me. All the way until she has me pinned against one of the walls.
"My husband didn't cheat"
"Sweety, I would tell you you're either thick or hard of hearing, but hard of hearing is reserved for your husband because he probably went deaf when other women would scream his name"
There's shocked silence for a second and then a searing pain on my cheek. She slapped me. Now, normally being slapped would make you tear up, shrink?
Nope. I laugh. I laugh so hard, that she is the one who ends up shrinking. She storms out of the house and slams the door behind her, I'm still laughing when the others come in.
I wipe a fake tear away and sober up. They're looking at me when I finally manage to stand up straight.
"What?" At first I think they might bring the slap up, but before Bucky can even open his mouth Tony walks forward saying
"kid, your sass is unparalleled."
"That coming from the man who designed JARVIS and FRIDAY, I am truly honored." I say doing a sarcastic curtsy and heading to the door. Bucky's coat still wrapped around my shoulders.
When I turn and they're still standing in the living room I beckon them towards the door
"Come on geniuses, I don't know where you're jet is" I say opening the door and stepping into the cold.
