A state situated in East India bordering Nepal from the North and has one of the biggest Buddhist Pilgrims. Yes, you guessed it right, it's Bihar. Surrounded by West Bengal in the east, Jharkhand in the south, and Uttar Pradesh in the West.

The capital city of Bihar is Patna, also known as Pataliputra during the ancient era. Patna is also said to be the largest city in Bihar in terms of population, growth, and facilities. 

The first CM of Bihar from the year 2nd April 1946 to 31st January 1961 was Shri Krishna Sinha, while the First Governor was Jairamdas Daulatram from 15 August 1947 to 11 January 1948

The first CM of Bihar from the year 2nd April 1946 to 31st January 1961 was Shri Krishna Sinha, while the First Governor was Jairamdas Daulatram from 15 August 1947 to 11 January 1948. Currently, The CM of Bihar is Nitish Kumar, and the Governor is Phagu Chauhan. 

Many types of local languages are spoken in Bihar. In Western Bihar, Bhojpuri is spoken, whereas Maithili is spoken in Darbhanga and Madhubani districts. Other local languages like Magahi, Angika, and Bajjika are also spoken in different districts and villages of Bihar.

One of the most famous foods of Bihar is Litti Chokha. Litti is a dough ball made up of whole wheat flour and stuffed with gram flour, which is later fried or roasted over coal or wood and is tossed with ghee, while Chokha is made up of mashed boiled potatoes, tomatoes, and brinjals. During the Chhath Pooja, a special sweet snack is made called Thekua, which is famous in all regions of Bihar. It is a deep-fried mixture of wheat flour with jaggery, which is fried in pure ghee. Rasiya, another special type of kheer which is a traditional food during Chhath, is equally delicious and famous. 

The local festival of Bihar is Chhath Pooja, which is celebrated all over the state. Chhath Pooja or Chhath Vrat is a 4-day festival that is celebrated for the well-being of offspring and their health and prosperity. In these four days, men or women of the family worship the Sun God and his sister Chhathi Maiya. 

The first day of the puja is called Nahay-Khay, in which the vratis (the ones who keep fast) baths in the morning by taking a dip in the Ganga River and then eat simple kadu or bottle gourd with rice, which is said to be the satvik food. The Second day is Kharna, when the vratis do fast the whole day and in the evening they make a sweet dish called rasiya along with Rotis, eating which they break the fast.

The Third day is Sandhya Arghya or Pehli Argha. On this day, the vratis dip any nearby pond and then pray in front of the setting sun with a plate of fruits and sweets in hand. When the vratis pray to the lord sun, her family members offer water/raw milk in water as a tribute. The last day is known as the Usha Arghya or Dusri Arghya. On this day, vratis pray in front of the rising sun, standing in the water with a plate full of fruits and sweets in hand. After praying, a Hawan is done at the end, after which the vratis distributes the prashad to the relatives and neighbours. 

Bihar is famous for its Pilgrims Centers and The beautiful historical structures. The famous places include the Mahabodhi Temple of Bodh Gaya, the place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. The ancient universities of Nalanda and Vikramshila, Vaishali, the place where Lord Mahavira was born. And Madhubani, the birthplace of various beautiful arts and cultures.  The state of Bihar is also known for its graceful Bhagalpuri Silk sarees and the Gurdwaras of Guru Gobind Singh, Takht Sri Patna Sahib, the place where The Sikh Guru was born. 

Built-in the capital city of Bihar, GolGhar is also seen as a tourist spot. It is a beehive-shaped structure constructed in the year 20 July 1786. During the British days, it was used as a storeroom for the storage of grains and food.

The state of Bihar is known for various popular people who have contributed in varying fields. Bihar is the birthplace of Lord Mahavira, Guru Gobind Singh, Ashoka, Chanakya, Chandragupta Maurya, and it is also the place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. 

Going to the political field, nationalist like Rajendra Prasad was born in Bihar while the well-known writer or poet Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar', Ramvriksh Benipuri was also born here. The great mathematician H.C. Verma was also born in Bihar, and even the famous actors like Sushant Singh Rajput, Shatrughan Sinha, Manoj Bajpai, Pankaj Tripathi, Sonakshi Sinha are from Bihar.

Many local folk dances are famous in the state. The most known dance form is Jat-Jatin. It is a theme-based dance story that shows the lovers Jat-Jatin’s life, who were separated and lived in difficult situations. The dance theme songs involve rain.  The jat-Jatin dance form is also known as Yakaha Nirtya in various regions of Bihar.

A huge amount of painting, art, and music is famous in Bihar. From the beautiful region of Madhubani to the region of Maithili, a large number of performances and programs can be seen in various places.

Earlier the captain of Bihar was Pataliputra of the Magadha Empire through Haryanka, Nanda, Mauryan, Shunga, Gupta, and Pala dynasty. It even is the region where the kingdom of Karna was made

Bihar has a lot of beautiful and enchanting beauties in its various parts, which are not mostly visible to tourists. It's even a known place for spiritual prayers. Not very different, yet so different in Bihar.
