"Ameylia!" shouted Cedric from across the halls as i headed to Potions.
"what?" i asked.
"erm, take your egg, and... mull things over in the bath," he replied.
"huh?" i asked, almost laughing. he started walking away.
"Prefects bathroom ! password is pine fresh." i shook my head confused, but did as he said and walked to my dorm, grabbing the dragon egg and putting down my books. i headed to the prefects bathroom and made sure no one was looking, "pine fresh."
the bathroom was REALLY nice, it had nice bubbling bath water and shiny mirrors. i looked around and stripped off my clothes, getting into the giant tub.
"hehuh," i heard someone hiccup. myrtle floated over to me, "Did blondie tell you what the next task is about?" she asked, sliding next to me.
"No, i'm here to figure it out. he hinted me," i sighed. "oooh mysterious," she giggled and looked at the egg. "open it!"
"i can't, it'll scream," i said angrily. "I heard Cedric's the other day! It's useless."
"Well why would Cedric give you advice if he hadn't solved it himself. Go under the water," she smirked and floated away. i rolled my eyes and obeyed.
i grabbed the egg and shoved it under water, opening it. a bright light appeared, but nothing else was happening. i could hear a faint voice coming from it. i put my head closer to the water and finally, under. the egg sang light and beautifully, or the voice in the egg did. i couldn't quite understand the words but i heard some.
Come seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you're searching ponder this;
We've taken what you'll sorely miss,
An hour long you'll have to look,
And to recover what we took,
But past an hour, the prospect's black,
Too late, it's gone, it won't come back."Hello? Is someone in here?" Asked a loud voice. I recognized it as Percy's. I quickly jumped up and slid my clothes on, waiting for him to leave before leaving myself.
—
"what could that mean?" asked Hermione after I told her what I had remembered. ginny shook her head.
"Merpeople?" i asked, and hermione looked up at me.
"yes! brilliant! of course it is."
"but what could i possibly miss?" i asked, ginny spoke.
"i don't know, but you need an underwater spell by the sound of it." i moaned and hermione grabbed her books, looking at which one to read through.
—
i awoke to Hermione shaking me. "it's the second task! you have to go!" she urged as i got up and flung on a silver swimsuit.
"ello young von," fleur said to me as we walked up to the other contestants. i grabbed out the gillyweed hermione had gave to me. she had got it from Neville, who knew a lot about plants. i shoved the gillyweed in my mouth and swallowed. it tasted really bad, like sauerkraut.
crowds of students appeared as Dumbledore announced the rules. I glanced at my hands and feet which were now webbed. I heard a whistle blow and i jumped into the water, immediately swimming towards the darkness. i knew whatever i had to do was down there.
Come seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you're searching ponder this;
We've taken what you'll sorely miss,
An hour long you'll have to look,
And to recover what we took,
But past an hour, the prospect's black,
Too late, it's gone, it won't come backi heard voices in the distance and swam towards them to find a big open city of merpeople. they were circling around 4 floating bodies. and one of them was George.
