Saturday

It's the afternoon of the Yule Ball, I'm putting on a red dress that is long and flowwy. Once I put on my dress, I write a letter and give it to an owl to give to Draco. It has where to meet on it. I head down to the great hall where the ball is being held. Walking into the hall, everyone claps and ooos and aaahs,

I see Draco in a dark green tuxedo, in the corner alone. I walk over to him and curtsie happily. He rolls his eyes.

"Draco what's wrong?" I ask, it's weird he's acting like this.

"Just don't think of this as some sort of a relationship," he snaps, "I only asked you because no body else would go with me."

Suddenly my heart hurt.

Why? Why did I care what he thought? He's just my date to the ball... I picked up my dress and walked out after huffing at him, just so he knew he did something wrong. I ran back to the gryffindor common room.

"Ameylia," Ginny asked, "what happened?" I told her about Draco and what he said. Obviously, she was angry with me for going with him but also showed a lot of sympathy. "Ameylia, lets go back to the ball," Ginny sighed, "please. It'll be way more fun than sitting here and feeling sad over an idiotic boy who thinks he's better than you."

i smiled, she always knew how to make me feel better. Ginny held out her hand and i took it, as we skipped down to the Ball.

After a while of dancing to upbeat songs with Angelina, a slow song came on. we both laughed and headed to sit down with her and Neville. Suddenly someone grabbed my arm. "Hey Ameylia, aren't you supposed to be here with Malfoy," Fred asks.

"Yeah but things change i guess," i scoff jokingly.

"Well since he left, would you like to dance with me?" he asks, "only for this song, if you want" Fred winks.

I laugh and take his hand, "sure". I look at Angelina and she nods as though she can read my mind.
sometimes i think she can.

Fred puts his hand on my waist, his other hand holding mine. i put my hands on his shoulders. he goofily closes his eyes and hums the tune of a whole different song which makes us both laugh.

"So, why'd Draco 'ditch' you? Or did you ditch him?" Fred says, smirking.

"Well he said something to me that kinda made me pissed, so i stormed off," i said, trying to sound proud. Fred furrowed his eyebrows and frowned, glancing over my shoulder, and quickly looked back at me.

"What?" i laugh.

"Oh erm, nothing."

i turn around to see Draco kissing Angelina, Fred's 'date'. i turn back to Fred, looking at his sad expression. i hold back tears. why did i feel this way? i don't like draco, do i? no i don't. i don't need him. suddenly feeds voice snaps me out of my thoughts.

"I'm sorry," he says, "you can leave if you want." I raise my left eyebrow at him, "why would i leave you here alone? what've you done?" i ask, putting my hands behind my back.

"Probably hurts you seeing Draco kiss my date," Fred scoffs, "filthy Malfoy." i look back and see Draco staring at me while kissing Angelina. She pushes him off of her and stomps away. I quickly turn back to Fred and feel my cheeks grow pink.

"um, i'm going to go sit down," i say, turning towards the table Neville sits at.

"Oh, sorry," says Fred, and i can hear the sadness he's trying to hide in his voice. I smile weakly at him and head over to sit by Neville, who's talking to Padma.

"You're back soon." he says.

"Yeah," i say, glancing at Draco, who's now dancing with Pansy Parkinson. Neville follows my glance, "that scum," he sneers, "saw him snogging Angelina too."

I nod, feeling better about Neville knowing, and not me having to tell him. Padma frowns, "well that's not very fair." i make a questioning look at her. she doesn't acknowledge it, "we should all be having fun on the dance floor."

I see Neville nod out of the corning of my eye, him biting his own cheek. Suddenly, the lights go out. I hear a few yelps, and Dumbledore bring out his wand and say, "lumos". nothing happens. A few Ravenclaws and Hermione pull out their wands which each have a light at the top of them. flashes of lights gleam around the room as more students shine their wands.

I try reaching for mine and realize i left in in my dorm. I hear a chair scoot out, and Dumbledore begins to speak.

"it seems the lights went out."

I hear a first year whisper, "no way, Sherlock?" It's Sarah Lestrange. How did she get in? Isn't the ball for 2nd years and up? She's probably snuck in, she's a slytherin do course.

"So," Dumbledore continues, "I would like all of the students to head back to their dorms." I hear sighs and arguments of disappointment. Padma says goodbye to Neville and I and walks back to her dorm.

"He's a great wizard, he couldn't just relight the lights?" Asks Padma.

"Let's find the other." i hear Neville say as he reaches his wand further out, accidentally poking Harry. The doors open to the hallways as kids shuffle past. I feel no one surrounding me anymore.

"Neville?" i ask, no one responding. They've all left. I make my way around the table to the door, feeling around, trying not to trip over anything. I finally make it out into the hallways, which only has a few candles lit. It's still very dark and I cannot see anyone.

"Ameylia, is that you?" I hear someone whisper from beside me. I look over to see Oliver shining his wand towards me.

"Oh hey, Oliver," i say, a hint of excitement in my voice.

"Do you have your wand?" he asks. I shake my head.

"oh okay," he smiles roughly, " i can take you back to your dorm if ya want? we're headed the same way so," he shrugs.

"that'd be great, thanks." i reply. The two of us walk to the Gryffindor common room, and say the password. We enter and see everyone sitting around the fireplace. Oliver sits down at a chair beside the red velvet couch, and i sit on the floor next to Hermione, who has mascara running down her eyes, clearly from crying a bit ago. Ginnys comforting her so I stay out of it.

Dean Thomas comes to sit beside me, "so, we're going to do a game night, since none of us really had fun at the ball," he looks at Hermione while saying this.

"Oooh sounds fun," i whisper as Fred and George walk by with board games stacked in their arms.
