Epilogue

"Scar" Cameron hesitantly says her name as she is slumped on a chair with a strawberry milkshake placed in front of her, in the dessert parlour, where they had their first encounter.

Her eyes dazily draw up from the phone she is grasping, to the person who just called her name. Scarlett's eyes land on Cameron who is wearing his usual suit and tie.

"May I?" He asks pointing at the empty chair across from her.

She nods silently watching him with wary blue eyes. He scrapes the chair back and sits on it. They acknowledge each other for a few seconds before Scarlett can't stand the awkward tension in the air.

She feels a slight stab of annoyance at herself at why she is feeling uncomfortable when Cameron is the one who refused to talk to her for the past three weeks.

"Yes? Is there a reason you've decided to grace me with your presence?" She sarcastically barks.

Cameron eyes widen a fraction in shock at Scarlett's harsh tone.

"Err...yes there is. I know I haven't been around for a while, I was busy. I just wanted to tell you about your father."

Scarlett's heart drops at the mention of the monster who destroyed her life. Her face pales slightly and her phone plops in her lap.

Cameron instantly notices the frightful change in Scarlett and hastily continues to decrease her agitation.

"He has been caught. I know it took longer than we thought but he has been captured and brought forward to the council. No matter how powerful he is, it will be a straight death sentence for him. He is under strict observation of the Hell Hounds and if he does manage to escape, the Hell Hounds already have his scent so will automatically be able to track him down wherever he is." He smiles at her.

"Supernaturals are immortal." Scarlett states blandly not allowing the news to fill her with relief.

"Supernaturals can be killed only by other supernaturals." Cameron explains urging Scarlett to be happy at this news.

"So he's really going to die?" Scarlett continues to questions.

Cameron reaches forward and grabs her hands in his, to portray that everything will be fine. His hands are soft and large, her's are elegant and thin. A complementary pair.

"Yes he is Scar."

She nods clumsily finally breaking out in a relieved giggle.

"It's over." He grins with his bedazzling smile.

"Have you told Francis and Liz yet?" She gasps.

"No, I thought I'll go see them later after I tell you the good news." Cameron explains as he helps himself to her milkshake.

"Oh yeah! Francis is being discharged tonight." Scarlett thinks out loud.

Francis is moving in with Elizabeth's mansion. Their relationship is going from strength to strength, as much as Scarlett squirms to admit it. They have really gelled perfectly, finishing each other sentences, laughing at the same ridiculous things, both always in agreement, almost making it all sickly sweet. But as long as they are happy Scarlett has no reason to be angry about it..

Scarlett reflecting on her brothers and her best friend's relationship makes her ponder over Francis hints on Cameron's feelings for her. She must address the issue to clear the air.

"Cameron." she withdraws her hands into her lap. "Francis mentioned that...that." She stumbles over her words not quite sure how to approach the matter.

"He was meddling wasn't he? Playing Mr Cupid?" Cameron rescues her from her awkwardness as he is well aware on what she is trying to force out, not only from her refusal to make eye contact but the shy, red blush creeping up her face.

She nods in agreement instantly, surprised at his detective skill they make a nano-second eye contact.

"He hasn't changed a bit." Cameron tuts with good humour, trying to play it smooth as Francis has already relayed the whole conversation to him, not that he wanted him to ask but at least he knows where Scarlett and him stand now.

"I don't know where he got the idea from but look I think you're an amazing guy. You're sweet, kind and thoughtful however I can't see you in anyway but a friend." She says sincerely with a shaking voice looking down at the table top, not daring to make eye contact whilst giving this rejection.

"Scar, it's OK. I'm fine." he says trying to refrain his poker face.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to lead you on or anything. I just can't. It's not you. Your perfect, it's me." She rabbles apologies hating herself for doing this to Cameron.

"There's not need to apologise Scar. I understand." He lies to prevent her feeling terrible for his rejection. She's just not feeling it. Who could blame her?

It's isn't her, it's him. Cameron knows the only reason why she can't be with him is because he is a Supernatural. A creature that has scared her for her whole life, how could she possibly go out with one of hose creatures?

"Hey, I can wait twenty years." He teases with irony.

Scarlett blue glassy eyes shoot up to him. Shock is written on her face, her eyes narrow. "He told you?" She squeaks feeling a stab of betrayal and humiliation.

She thought the conversation she had with Francis was confidential it was just him trying to satisfy his own curiosity but it must have been Cameron not having the guts to ask her.

Coward.

She didn't have to bring this all up, if her already knew. Where is the loyalty here? After a brief intervention of her level-headed conscious, Scarlett would have done the same if the roles were ever reversed.

Cameron blushes a little and scratches the back of his neck sheepishly knowing that he's been sussed out. Scarlett decides without realising it to give him the benefit of the doubt and plays along with it all.

"Well aren't you a patient man. Let's see how much I age in twenty years." She smiles at him

Both knowing that even after twenty years they wouldn't be together as Scarlett would age, unless she embraced the Supernatural side of her. She wouldn't do that though. She is content in her boring human side that gives her life's simple pleasures. This won't stop Cameron checking up on her for the rest of her life.

Nonetheless both hope that the other finds someone equally as perfect as them, to give them the joy and love they deserve.

OK would like to say a massive thanks to those who have kept with this story right to the end! It means a lot! Also thank you for the votes and those who have commented throughout the story.

Going back to the ending, I know it's quite a bitter sweet ending. Perhaps a moral can be implicated here that you shouldn't change something for a person, only do something for yourself and you are 100% with that decision.

Anyway would I be doing a sequel?

Errmmm...I'm not dedicated enough to keep with the same story-line but I think I have left the story now with potential of a sequel. Therefore I might do one, not now because I have university so super busy, perhaps in the summer or when I come up with an awesome idea that I have to write.

Once again thank you and keep on smiling :)
