Life was going well. So well, in fact, that I almost forgot about my rapidly approaching birthday. And by nearly, I mean I did, until that fateful day.

I was pleasantly minding my own business one day in the kitchen, reading some romance novel one of my friends had gotten me as a parting gift when Mira sauntered into the kitchen. I'm not sure whether she was allergic to clothes or if she was just hot, but after I'd settled in she regularly walked around in just a shirt, just her undies, or nothing.

Whenever she knew she would be home for more than an hour, the latter was her go-to.Today she'd decided to go with a pair of aqua boy shorts and nothing else. A flash of the campaign "Free the Nipples" went through my head, and I chuckled. I loved Mira's nipples and her cute little butt, so I didn't object.

She came over to me and gave me a soft kiss. In return, I pinched her nipples and she shimmed them in front of me before turning to go rummaging through the fridge. I turned my attention back to the book where heroin was teleported in the savannah desert.

A few moments later, Mira shreaked. It was a common occurrence so I continued to focus on my book.

"Katiyah! Why didn't you tell us you have a birthday this week?" she exclaimed loudly. My head shot up to see Mira bent over the counter with my wallet in her hand. She was carefully looking over my I.D. I was a little annoyed Mira had just gone through my wallet, but it was my fault for leaving it on the counter. I see no one taught her boundaries in her youth. I'll have to teach her now I thought with an amused sigh. I lifted my hand to beckon her to come to bring me my wallet.

"Can you bri—" I was interrupted.

"Neta! Neta! Netarute!" she yelled for reinforcements.

Shit! Netarute came running into the kitchen a few seconds flat as if expecting to find one of us on fire. Her eyes narrowed upon accessing the scene.

"What? What it is?" The annoyance spread across her face when she saw that neither of us required an ambulance.

"Katiyah's birthday is on Saturday!!," Mira said, pointing the finger at me and tattle-tailing on me freely."And I have a feeling she wasn't going to tell us." Her last words. Mira pursed her sassy lips and crossed her arms in front of her chest.

"Oh, is that so?" Neta made her way to the counter while they both had a silent eye conversation. Eventually Neta wrapped her arms around Mira's torso pulling Mira into her lap so they could sit on the counter stool together.

"Double teaming me again, so rude Ms and Ms boo thang." I rolled my eyes and decided to go back to my abandon book.

Neta spoke first, "What gives, hun?" Directed toward me.

"You don't want to celebrate your birthday with us?" Her chin resting on Mira's shoulder. I glanced up from my book seeing the full on pout she was giving me. Unlike Mira, Neta rarely guilt trips me so my heart did a flip in my chest loving the vulnerability of her expression as well as wanting to be comfort to it.

Mira though was ready to go, and had already packed her bags for the guilt trip.

"Yeah. I thought you loved us," Mira puffed up her cheeks, tilting her head usign her pretty eyelashes as bait.

I laughed it off with an eyeroll, "But what does that have to do with celebrating my birthday?"

"Wait, you really weren't going to say anything?" Neta stared incredulously at me. Now, the glare was on me. I sighed, closing the book and leaving t on the armrest in front of me so I could lean on on the couch facing them.
