"Should I leave? Do you want me to go? " I covered my mouth with my hand as too keep my lips from twitching.

"Even though Mira said Copia needed time, this is not okay with me. Copia doesn't talk to me and I can't be verbally abused like this,"

"No. No sweetie you don't have to go. Mira and I would be surely upset if you left. Copia is just being hard to deal with because when she is scared its hard for her to communicate that. . Would you let me talk to her and see if we can come out to a mutual understanding? "

I nodded, "But I to be in the know. She cant keep doing this."

======================================================

Deep into that same night, I opened my room door and was just about to creep towards the bathroom when I heard voices downstairs.

Thankfully new carpeted stairs don't creak, I snuck down the stairs. I could hear Copia and Netarute – arguing.

"Babe, what the fuck do you want me to do? I can't turn back time," Copia demanded.

"I want you to stop fucking with her. Jesus, Copia. We agreed. You said you would try, but kissing her is the opposite," Netarute said in her strict tone. There was a long pause and I heard one of them open and close the fridge.

"I talked to Sandra," Copia finally said.

" What does that have to do with anything?" The fact that Sandra had been brought into the conversation did not seem to impress Netarute in the least.

Copia sighed heavily.

Netarute finally said, her tone back to normal.

"Co- Co, listen to me," I'd never heard that nickname. "I know things are hard, but you can't take it out on her...Okay?"

"That's not it. I – Okay fine your right I am taking it out on her. But she cant just expect me to fall in love with her just because she signed a fucking lease," Copia sighed again.

"No one is expecting anything from you except respect. We talked about this before she came. She at least has proven to be civil with you and proven to be worthy of your respect. That is the least you can do. Everything is on that contract is irrelevant as long as we can get along with her. "

I left then taking the stairs two at a time back to my room, not wanting to be found out ,and hoping I heard enough of the conversation to assume smooth sailing.

=============================================================================

Neta woke me up early in the next morning to discuss what she had discussed with Copia. Copia would be Civil toward me. If I didn't feel comfortable then we could reconvene again as a group. Copia owed me an apology. That night Copia took me aside on the porch and gave an a short but very needed apology. She echoed the civility in the agreement she made with Netarute the night prior.

 The next few weeks passed without incident. Copia and I were on the rocks with each other. But there was no more snide remarks when I spoke and she didn't always cut off her sentences when she saw me enter a room. She told jokes in front of me and eventually she didn't avoid eye contact.

She was only home one day a week during daylight hours when she wasn't away on her for work. After our talk in the kitchen, I didn't have anymore trouble falling asleep. I slept way better knowing my life was not endanger and that Mira, Neta and Copia would like me to stay regardless of the contempt Copia kept for me.

I was falling more and more for Netarute and Mira. I loved spending time with them. It seemed we were becoming more familiar with each passing day. We each gave bits of ourselves that made me feel like it felt right to be with them at that moment.
