"Bluey! That book's miiiiiine!" Muffin, 15, yells to Bluey, who is proceeding to read said book by the tree that she planted so many years ago.
"I know it's yours, Muffin, I'm just borrowing it!" Bluey, 18, shouts back.
She sits down under the shady bit of the tree and starts reading. As she starts to read the first sentence in the book, she hears a very familiar voice call her name.
Confused, she looks in the direction of the noise to find that her old camping buddy, Jean Luc, 19, has returned. They smile really hard. With tears in her eyes, she drops the book, gets up, and hugs him.
"I never thought that I'd see you again!" Bluey says happily.
"Je n'ai jamais-- I mean, I never thought that I would see you either!" Jean Luc exclaims.
"You've learned English! Well, that totally eliminates the purpose of learning French..."
"Well it's always good to learn another language, which was why I learned English..." Then he whispers "And for you."
Confused, Bluey says "What did you say?"
A sigh... "If I had to be honest, since we departed all those years ago, I thought of you at least once a year... I hit the age of thirteen and I didn't realise that..."
Silence falls between the two.
"You didn't realise that what?"
Another sigh... Finally, Jean Luc pipes up and admits "I didn't realise that I had a crush on you." He blushes.
Bluey hugs Jean Luc again, then she whispers in his ear, "I've had a crush on you too."
His eyes widen in surprise as he wraps his arms around her to embrace the hug. "I thought that you would forget me."
"Forget you? Noooooo!" Bluey reacts.
Silence falls again.
They break the hug and Jean Luc says "I have a question to ask you... If you don't mind me asking it."
Intrigued, she replies "I would like to know this question."
Nervously, he asks, "Voudrais-tu être ma petite amie ? "
"I got the 'Would you like' part but I don't understand the rest of what you said."
"I said... 'Would you like to be my girlfriend?' "
Bluey gasps and yells in excitement. Birds fly out of the trees.
Composed, she replies, "Let me see if I get this right... J'aimerais être ta petite amie."
With his eyes tear-filled, he says "You said that correctly."
