The little girl sat beside Robin at the edge of the rooftop, not frightened at all by his cold demeanor or his hard glare. Instead, she returned it with a sunny smile and sat beside the vigilante with a circular white box in her hand and a spoon.
She held it out to him and offered a welcoming smile. "Here," the little girl said, her pretty chocolate eyes almost look like they were glowing.
Robin looked at the box with suspicion and then looked back at the girl. "It's not poison, it's ice cream!" the girl replied, almost like reading his mind.
Robin raised a brow but said nothing. He took the box hesitantly and the spoon offered. He opened the box and saw the ice cream inside. He looked at the girl again, looking for any trace of deception. Nothing. Just a smiling face.
He wasn't supposed to take gifts from strangers, especially some random kids that spotted him on the rooftop, but he was really grumpy and ice cream sounded nice right now.
He scooped spoon-filled ice cream and brought it to his mouth. He was unexpectedly surprised by the flavor. It was vanilla.
His favorite.
