"Someone gave me a box today," Maria began as she took out the box and fiddled with the ribbon. Why hasn't she opened it today? "I don't know what's inside because I'm scared it might be something dangerous."
"Why would you say that?"
"It's Gotham. This place is filled with bad people."
Oh. That was why she was so hesitant to accept his gift. He should have thought of that. He was quite proud how Maria knows not to accept gifts from randos in the street.
"Who gave it to you?" Robin asked. Of course, he knows who, but he wonders if Maria remembered his civilian name.
Maria put her finger on her chin as if she was thinking. She squinted her eyes and answered, "uuh... Dami- something. He looked rich, so I don't know why he gave me this." Maria shook the box and only small thumps could be heard.
"Why don't you open it?" Robin suggested.
Maria seemed to hesitate but slowly undid the ribbon. She put it in her pocket for safe-keeping, and she also likes it. She opened the small box and her chocolate eyes sparkled when she saw a small brown bear with a smiley face on its tummy.
She gently took it out of the box and hugged it. She loved it. And it warmed Robin's heart to see that his gift was perfect.
"I'll name you... Robin Bear!"
