"A movie?!" Maria jumped from her place. Damian came by earlier today and asked if she wanted to go to the movies with him. Wow! The movies! It would be her first time!
"Yes," Damian replied.
Damian made sure Maria had a good time. They biked to the nearest movie theatre, bought a lot of snacks, and watched Kung Fu Panda. Maria laughed, cried, and overall, enjoyed her time in the dark with so much popcorn and soda.
Damian took a shortcut and dropped her off with the spare popcorn they weren't able to eat in the movies. The smile on her face made Damian's heart flutter and some of that guilt has washed away.
He was late for class, but he didn't care. He made Maria smile today.
