Third Person's POV ○

-------------------○----------------

Hollow eyes stare out aimlessly at the moonlit sky peeking through the window. Anthony is seated on the bed, a white sheet drapped over his torso. Hands on his sides, his gaze is fixated outside staring into oblivion.

The first week, he'd been a mess.

He had sobbed and sobbed until he passed out. The second week, he'd grown distant. The following week, he had completely forgotten to sleep. He had become but a living shell of a man without any soul.

He hadn't allowed Carla's body be let down in a grave though.

He had carried her frail body in his arms, washed and dressed her in a white wedding gown with such gentleness as if she'd break if he put the littlest of pressure and then very tenderly he'd laid her down on the soft cushions of the glass coffin and kissed her forehead and then her lips.

He never let the coffin out of his sight. Even now, it was placed near the window. The very same window Anthony was staring through. The soft streaks of the moon eliciting a faint light on Carla's face made her look ethereal. Claire had placed a spell to avoid decaying of her body.

Kaitlyn watched him with careful precision from where she sat on the couch. Her eyes holding pain for her brother.

Not a single word had he uttered ever since that day. The day Carla had died.

Daniel and Ariel were informed about their sister the very same day. It had been a strange affair. It was the first time the King and Queen of Ancientriova had met the royals and not erased their memories. In the beginning, they were confused but when Valerian had informed them about Carla, all hell broke loose.

While Ariel had been the same sobbing mess she was the last time Carla had been injected by the wolvesbane, Daniel had lost it. He had asked Anthony. He had yelled at him asking why he broke his promise. Why he didn't protect Carla.

Anthony had thought that too. He should've protected her. He'd failed. He'd failed once more. He didn't say that to Daniel though. He hadn't said a word as Daniel yelled and yelled before breaking down. Daniel had lost his sister too.

Anthony felt like it was his fault. Everything seemed like his fault.

Daniel must've seen something in Anthony's face then because he had pulled the man in a comforting hug. Daniel hadn't said anything either. He hadn't given false words of comforts such as, 'It'll become better' 'You'll get through this' or 'everything will be fine'.

He knew it wouldn't be. He understood Anthony for he'd been in the same place months ago. Daniel knew he must've been the same if Ariana hadn't made it out alive.

Kaitlyn sighed.

She didn't know why Anthony refused to leave the stone castle no matter how hard they persuaded him. He was adamant on staying here.

Although Zander hadn't minded them staying in the castle, it would've been better and helped him if he just broke from his shell and moved out of the place.

But somewhere, she knew he didn't want to leave the place since it would make him face the reality of the situation. The reality where Carla isn't there. The reality where he's to be crowned the king of the Lycan kingdom. His folks had been waiting for their king eagerly. And the king was not even himself anymore.
