Author's POV

■ Royal palace: Vamplyre Kingdom ■

"I want my son back." The woman seated on the head chair of the dining table in the large dining room muttered as hot, fat tears sprang out from her eyes.

The food served to her was untouched just like how she'd left them for days now.

The man seated next to her moved his chair closer to his wife's and held her face tenderly as he wiped the tears running down her face. No matter how many times he brushed them away, they kept returning back.

It hurt him to see her like this. She'd been this way---lost and desperate---ever since their son went missing.

"We'll get him back, love. I promise. We'll get him back," he assured his wife as he inched closer and pulled her into his arms.

A sob escaped her mouth as she clung to him, "He's just six, Valerian. How could someone be so heartless to take him? What if they hurt my baby? He must be so scared right now."

Valerian's heart tightened at her broken voice. It was hurting him just as much to see his Kaitlyn like this. And then his son. . . That little man who always made the whole palace brighten up with his presence was now gone, taking away the light with him.

"He'll be fine, Kate. He's our son. He knows how to fight, just like his mother who was hell bent on killing me when we first met," he let a small smile slip to his lips at the fond memory despite the ache in his heart as he tried to comfort her.

"Why is everyone so hell bent on him ever since he's born? Why can't they let him live? Why are these people so greedy for power? What has my baby ever done to them for them to act like he was a freaking ticking bomb?"

Kaitlyn cried and cried in Valerian's arms as he held her close and caressed her hair in an attempt to comfort her.

When he could no longer hear her sobs, he looked down to find Kaitlyn asleep in his arms with the tears dried on her beautiful face. Letting out a tired sigh, he gently pulled away from her before carrying her in his arms and making his way towards their room.

He carefully placed Kaitlyn on the bed once they were inside their chamber and covered her with the duvet. Placing a soft kiss to her forehead, he stepped back and exited his room.

Valerian's determined steps padded on the wooden floor as he made his way to his study where his butler awaited in his wake.

"Your highness," The middle-aged  butler, Gerald, who was a vampire bowed his head in respect as he saw the king approach.

"Gerald, hunt the world down if you have to but find Noah. Let me see who dared to take my son away under my nose," Valerian's eyes had a dangerous glint in them which made Gerald gulp but he was very familiar with his Lord's behaviour as he'd been serving the king since centuries now.

"As you say, your grace. Ill try my best," The butler said with ditermination. He too missed the prince who broke havoc in the castle with his little presence.

I'll kill those people with my bare hands if they do anything to my son.

Valerian's brown-green eyes shone as he pledged.

Carla's POV

Every inch of my body felt like it was on fire. My head pounded as if someone had been hitting it with nails. All the energy in my blood had been drained. I couldn't even move.

I tried to open my eyes and instantly felt dizzy as my vision blurred.

What the hell did those moronic rogues inject me with?! And how many days has it been since then?
