Anthony's POV

They say life is full of surprises. Well, I wasn't ready for this surprise. Or rather much, a stupidity.

After the woman named Kate calls me her brother and quite literally squeezes the life out of me with her hug, all I do is stand and stare at her blankly. She doesn't make sense. Yeah, I did feel this weird bond when my eyes met hers and something within me just snapped. It wasn't like those lovers bond (like the one I feel with Carla), it was more homely, brotherly---a kind of bond that siblings share. I did feel the connection. But then. . . .

Twin? What the heck is she speaking?
She doesn't even look like me.

"Uhm. Excuse me, mam. I think you're mistaken. I don't have a twin." I said giving a polite smile as I gently released her arms of off me and pulled back from her embrace. I stole a glance at Valerian who was throwing a nasty glare my way for some unfathomable reason. The fuck is his problem?

Kate frowned at that but soon it was replaced by a smile, "Ofcourse, you don't know. We were separated when we were born. Reasons." A sad expression loomed over her face before she rolled her eyes and without even turning to look at the man, she spoke,

"Valerian, stop glaring at him. He's my brother for pete's sake. So quit with your alpha male mode." She deadpanned but I could see the smile she was biting back as she shook her head with an amused look on her face.

Valerian himself smiled at that as he came to stand next to the beautiful woman, Kate, and wrapped an arm around her waist while still giving me a guarded look.

"What's your name, bro?" Kate asked me with an excited look on her face before gesturing towards Valerian who still had a stony expression on his face, "Don't mind him. Just acts grumpy all the time. It's just the face though. He's a softy at heart, believe me." She shrugged nonchalantly while her husband gave her a shocked look as if she betrayed him by telling me that.

A smile stretched onto my face looking at them, "I'm Anthony. And it's fine. One thing though, I'm very sure I don't have a sibling. I'm sorry I think you're mistaken." I tried to explain her but she wasn't having any of it.

"And I'm very sure you are my brother. Im Kaitlyn, by the way. You can call me Kate. Nice finally meeting you, brother. Also, I presume there's a lot of explaining to do on my part," she mused as her eyes clouded for a minute before she looked at me, "Why don't you come in? Take some rest and I'll let you know everything after that."

I was still not sure whether it was okay for me to stay here especially when I had Carla and Cami along with me. Also, despite this all of a sudden sibling-bond which I don't think even exists, these people are still strangers.

What if they are with the rogues and just acting up to capture us or worst yet Noah? But then Noah did seem to know them and they did too. Guess they are really his family.

"We aren't involved with the rogues." A voice spoke commandingly as if listening to my thoughts, "And we are his family."

I raised my head to find Valerian looking at me with a straight face.

"Did you just answer my thoughts?" I asked him acting surprised while I had a suspicion in my head.

"I didn't. I speculated what you're thinking." He told me before turning around and walking but on his way he gestures a man--who I didn't even realise was here and seems like the butler of the house by his attire--to attend us and retreats into the vast villa after Kate.
