▪︎ ANTHONY'S POV ▪︎

Lycor.

The Lycan kingdom although ruled by a single monarch, actually has two royal families—The Verakovs that is mine and the Lauvinton.

The Lauvinton throne is owned by a lycan queen named Eleanor Lauvinton who to my greatest shock turned out to be Valerian's step-mother.

It was during one of the court meetings in Raveria with all the kings and queens of Ancientriova when I met her.

She was the first one to walk in through the doors minutes after Carla and I took our seats on the council meeting table. I had thought Marilla and Kaitlyn were the only queens along with Carla. So, imagine my confusion seeing a woman dressed in all royal finery joining us for the meeting.

And that wasn't all.

The very first moment her eyes had caught mine and Carla's, she had grinned so wide and practically hopped over to us. She had done the hopping in such an elegant way that I and Carla had shared a perplexed glance at the woman's flamboyant elegance.

Then very happily she had congratulated me and Carla on taking the throne. But that wasn't it. She had with an otherworldly joy passed us the keys to her castle telling us that we could go there whenever we wished and it was a gift from her to us.

We were so shocked with the woman's behavior that we didn't know what to do. A queen doesn't hand over her castle keys to another king as a form of gift. They simply don't.

While we remained dumbfounded, Valerian and Kaitlyn walked into the hall with Kaitlyn laughing at my and Carla's expression. Even the weird queen had a grin on her face.

With a shake of his head, Valerian had introduced Eleanor telling us she was his step-mother and that she actually stayed in Raveria's castle with Kate and him. Looking at the keys in my hands, Valerian had given Eleanor a questioning glance to which she passed him another gleeful smile that had Valerian shaking his head again.

He then explained to me that the woman finally found someone to thrust her abandoned castle too. Which, ofcourse, had me and Carla glancing at one another in complete awkwardness.

Eleanor though after her initial weirdness turned out to be a really wise and pleasant person. From the way my sister was with the woman, I know Kaitlyn adores her mother-in-law and I could say, Eleanor had a really close bond with Valerian too despite him being her step-son. In fact, I'd say she was the first step-mother I'd seen who was so loving towards her husband's first wife's son. As for Valerian's real father and mother. . . let's just say it's a very twisted tale and not my story to tell.

All I know is, with Eleanor gleefully handing over her castle and throne to me, the whole of Lycor was in my hands.

It will be a lie if I said that I didn't like my kingdom. It is so beautiful. My people are equally wonderful.

They treat me like some God. And it just makes my nose stand so proud. I literally feel like hugging them all sometimes. My people, I mean.

And Carla loves to tease me about my inflating ego and Cassian loves to giggle along with her. He's turning into a mama's boy with every passing day. Not that I mind. It warms my heart. But I know I'm his favorite. More so, I would like to delude myself with that although I know he loves both of us the same.

My life feels so content that on half the occasions or balls, I feel like dancing like a maniac on the dance floor with my wife and my son. Sometimes, with all my family too.
