Post-apocalyptic explosions (Reader x Megumin story)

Chapter 18-Bath in the lake

I dreamed I was walking on a field and I could see an old house in the distance. Clearly, I would find loot there. As I got closer, I heard father's voice shouting from inside:

"Y/n! Come inside! I have something to show you!"

I didn't expect to hear that coming from the house.

What? My father? What is he doing here?

"I'm coming!"

I ran towards the house enthusiastically and I opened the door. But it wasn't my father that I saw behind the door.

It was the general I slew in battle. He had his gilded mask on his face and in his hand was his silvery scabbard with his sword in it. The house and the field melted away as I found myself in the middle of the battle again.

Oh no.

Then the general threw away his mask and his inhuman face was revealed: it was a pale, porcelain-like white face with red eyes, pointy years and teeth and two holes instead of a nose. Then the general unsheathed his sword and swung it at my face, but I could feel I was too slow.

I woke up in the morning, sweating and with my heart pounding. But when I woke, I didn't have my armor and clothes on me, only bandages, and I was wearing a different pair of pants as I was laying in bed. Other than that, I wore nothing. Beside my bed was the silvery sheath I took as a war trophy.

"Y/n! You're alive!" Megumin rushed to hug me as I laid in bed.

I was surprised.

She seemed to have sat in a chair beside the bed, watching me as I slept.  

"What's up?" I asked.

Megumin did not let go of me.

"I was so worried about you!" Megumin said. "For a moment I thought you were gone."

She rubbed her nose against mine.

"Y/n, don't ever do that again, you hear!?"

"Do what?"

"You separated yourself from the formation and went deep into the enemy army, killing left and right while also taking hard hits."

"How did you find me among all these people?" I asked her

"Cornelius was taller than I and he could watch you more closely. He's got some kind of contraption that gives him eagle eyes. I came running towards you as soon as he told me you collapsed."

"Eagle eyes?"

Does she mean 'binoculars'?

"Yes, he-" then she parted her hug, sitting back on her chair. "-oh, I'm sorry!"

"Sorry for what?"

Then I realized. She still had some dirt and and dried blood on her from giving me a lap pillow in the battle. By hugging me, she had put some of that back on me, even if a little.

"I'm not really clean, right now..." Megumin explained

"Ah, it's no big deal. It's not like you dragged me through mud or anything. I am awake now anyway, you can go clean yourself if you feel like it, I promise I won't die meanwhile."

"Alright, I will take a bath."

But instead of doing that, Megumin stared at me with a wide smile on her face.

"Uh, what's wrong?" I asked

"I just wanted to take a second look at you, to make sure you're fine." Megumin told me
