It took quite a while to return to Ghoulparadise with Megumin on my back. At some point she might've been able to walk on her own but I think Megumin preferred to travel on my back. I didn't mind that either.
Her warm breath washing over the back of my neck is something I just can't refuse.
At that point I was aware my friendship with her was evolving into something else, but I just let things roll on their own.
In the end, Megumin didn't have any need to treat my grazed throat, even though it was formerly bleeding, as it healed on it's own when we were back at Ghoulparadise. The sun was getting close to the point where it was usually starting to set, so we went on to the village chieftain's house.
Megumin leaned on my shoulder again and assessed the damage on my throat.
"Mhm. It seems it doesn't need any treatment."
"Told you it was just a scratch" I said. "Now I'll owe you nothing!"
As a response, Megumin wrapped her legs around me tightly and bit my ear. She didn't do it in a hard way, but it tickled me and it made me shiver.
"Ooow! STOP THAT!"
But, as I tried to shake her off, she remained planted on my back and laughed. Her laugher calmed me down and made me smile.
She is just having fun going on this stubborn mule's back.
(Timeskip)
After having a meal with the Ghoulparadise chieftain, we arranged to go with Lucilius and Hadrian to Neo-Constantinople the next day. They were getting eager to return home and introduce us to their king.
When night came and we went to our beds, I could hear Megumin being restless. I looked in her direction and I could see through the dark that she was staring at her adventurer's card.
"What's the matter?" I asked her
"I have slain so many enemies and yet I haven't received a single experience point! This world of yours is really harsh."
My world is harsh!? In your world vegetables are attacking people! You can't even farm in peace.
"When we get to Constantinople, we will ask the priests for Theophilus and when we find him, we will find the portal to your world." I assured her
"I hope you are right" Megumin replied.
A few seconds of silence passed by until Megumin spoke again.
"Is there any other legendary creature that roams this world of yours?"
"Hmm, let me think about it."
There are many. But none is as imposing as Feomathar.
"The most powerful one is clearly Feomathar, the black dragon." I answered. "It destroyed numerous settlements and tales of it's deeds reach even the most isolated of survivors. Some say that one day he will have a bad day and then he will burn every human and make us all go extinct."
