"San, guess what?" I asked.
"What?" San asked.
"I'm under SM Entertainment now, and I'm a lead role in a new K-drama. I can't give too much information away, but it's called Love in Focus." I said.
"That's great, babe! Wow, you made it into a huge company." San said.
"I know right. Even I can't believe it." I said.
"Have you met anyone while you're there?" San asked.
"Hmm, let me think. . . Oh! I met Mark of NCT 127 and SuperM. Hmm, who else. Oh my gosh, I also met Taemin of SHINee and SuperM." I said.
"Woah, you met Taemin sunbaenim. . . Cool." San said.
"I'll send you the cutest selfie I took with him when I met him." I said.
"Please do." San said.
"샌! 누구랑 얘기하는 거야?" Wooyoung asked(San! Who are you talking to?)
"아무도 없다." San said(No one)
"들었어, 누군가와 얘기하고 있잖아." Wooyoung said(I heard you, you're talking to someone)
"아, 그래요. 희정이에요." San said(Oh, alright. It's Heejung)[Note: Heejung is my Korean name]
"뮤직비디오에 나오는 여자?" Wooyoung asked(The girl in our music video)
"네. . ." San admits(Yeah. . .)
"홍중형이 언니랑 사귀지 말라고 했잖아요." Wooyoung said(Hongjoong hyung told you not to date her)
"그에게 말하지 마세요. 우리는 사랑에 빠졌어. 당신은 우리가 사랑에 빠지는 것을 막을 수 없어요." San said(Please don't tell him. We are in love. You can't stop us from being in love)
"알았어, 미안해. 맞아요, 우린 누군가를 사랑하지 말아야해요." Wooyoung said(Okay, you're right, we shouldn't be stopped from loving someone)
"우리는 평판을 유지해야만 한다." San said, looking down(We have to keep up a reputation)
The whole time that San and Wooyoung are having this conversation, I am still on the other end, listening to them. I can pick up a few key words, but I don't understand all of their conversation fully. Maybe this is a good excuse for me to start studying Korean harder. If I don't learn Korean, sooner or later, I'll stop receiving calls for auditions. It's either I learn Korean, or I don't make it. I'm sure I'll pick it up because I'm pretty good at learning languages as is. I just need to focus really hard, then I'll start to understand. I know my friends will also be able to help me. After listening to Wooyoung and San talk for way too long, I finally hang up.
I know my journey in Korea is just beginning, even though I've been here for a few months, I am just starting to get traction, and am considered an amateur actress at this time. I think starring as the lead role in this drama will really boost me. I'm still not sure why they chose me when I'm still a beginner in acting, but it must be because I suit the role the best. Out of all the girls who auditioned, I suited it best. That feels like an honor, and to act alongside the likes of Cha Eunwoo and Nam Joo-Hyuk, is an even bigger deal. Being in a drama with Korea's hottest actors, it's a true honor.
*One Month Later*
It's been a month since I first started filming for Love in Focus. The episodes air as soon as we finish filming them and finished editing, so the public sees me in action in my first major K-drama. This is intimidating, and I have no idea what people think of me. My character, Chloe, is pretty similar to me in real life. I really liked filming this drama so far, but the schedule is just insane. 12 to 14 hours a day, for 8 days straight. It is just crazy. I've had to take some days off because of how tiring the schedule has become as of lately.
To celebrate my pilot episode airing and my success in my new K-drama, San surprises me with flowers, chocolates but more specifically Peporo, and a teddy bear. He would also like to take me out on our first real date for once. Ever since I became an actress and with San being an idol, it is hard for us to make dates. We also need to be picky with where we go on our dates because we don't want to be caught out in public by fans. I am slowly building my fan base here in Korea, and I even have my own fan cafe on Daum, so I'm slowly making my way up. It would be hard if we got caught by either ATINY and my fans.
San chooses a fancy restaurant for our first date. Wow, this is a really nice place. I'm impressed. When I take a look at the menu, the steak is looking really appetizing and delicious. I think I will take that, medium-well, with a side of veggies and a salad. San orders us drinks and I already let him know that I don't drink alcohol, so I guess he'll be drinking for the both of us. I have no idea what San acts like when he's drunk because he's not the type to live stream while drunk, unlike some other idols. I think that is smart, it keeps his image clean.
Our food soon arrives and when I smell my steak, I am ready to dig in. I cut into the steak and begin eating. I sip my water in between bites. Ah, this steak is really good. San is having his favorite food: meat. He is enjoying samyeopsal right now. Because of my personal beliefs, I don't eat pork or certain seafood, so I miss out on a lot of Korean food, but I think the food I am able to eat makes up for it. When we finish eating, we are on our way out of the restaurant. Poor San is a drunk boy, and I need to hail a taxi for us. Instead of dropping him off at his dorm, I take him to my dorm, closest to SM Entertainment.
