AN- So, this was actually supposed to just be one part. But then I just kept writing. So it’s a 2 parter.

Roman sat down at his lunch table, only taking his eyes off of Virgil for a couple seconds at a time. Virgil was looking back at him. They were both smiling.

Roman let out a small laugh when Virgil backhanded Patton’s arm defensively. He assumed he was teasing Virgil about their eye contact.

Roman took out his phone, ready to text Virgil again. It had been a couple days since he asked for his number, and they talked pretty much every minute of every day, even staying up late to talk to each other.

“Who you texting?” Chad asked.

“Oh, just a friend,” Roman responded. Virgil’s contact name was ‘Stormy Knight 💜🌩️’, so hopefully they wouldn’t realise.

“Ooh, is it a girl? Is she hot?” Brad asked. Roman avoided the first question.

“Hot… very,” Roman said, remembering how beautiful Virgil was.

“Can I see a picture?” Brad asked.

“I don’t have one.” Not a lie.

“How do you know she’s hot then?”

“I can remember appearances,” Roman said. Monica crossed her arms and rolled her eyes.

“I bet she’s not that hot.”

“Does she go here?” Chad asked.

“Yeah,” Roman said.

“I bet it’s Sarah,” Brad said. “She’s pretty hot.”

“Nah, bro, I think it’s Amy,” Chad said.

Roman: I wish I could sit with you, people at my table are garbage in comparison.
Virgil: You’re welcome to come sit with us.

“Oh, Roman. What’s the date of your ‘date’ with that emo loser?” Chad asked. Roman held himself back from yelling at him.

“Oh, we’re going out on Wednesday at 6,” Roman said. He had never been more excited for something in his entire life. Yes, it was mostly because he’s impatient, but it was also because he wanted to go on a date with Virgil.

“Awesome! Where?”

“A coffee shop my cousin recommended, Beanies. Virgil said he liked their coffee,” Roman said, his heart beating rapidly against his chest.

“Sweet!”

Roman looked over at Virgil and his friends. Virgil was smiling down at his phone. Roman’s phone buzzed.

Virgil: Logan just said that you’re gonna be extra on our date. Please don’t be too bad, I don’t really want to draw attention to us.
Virgil: No offense to you, I just prefer going unnoticed.
Roman: Of course. Whatever you wish.

“He’s gonna feel so stupid.”

Roman’s heart sank. Did they expect him to hurt Virgil?
He wouldn’t dare. He cared about Virgil, and even if he didn’t explicitly care for him, he still wouldn’t want to hurt him. So they were just being dumb.
He was going to open his mouth to say something, but Monica did first.

Oh, well…

Roman- Are you ready for our date today?

Virgil smiled, trying to bite it back, but failing miserably.

Virgil- Not yet, but I’m working on it.

Virgil was looking in the mirror, basically all he’d been doing since he’d gotten home. He changed out of his black jeans, MCR t-shirt and signature jacket into something more… more.
