AU- Patton can see dead people, human
So, I know what you're thinking, and no, it's not like "I Can See Dead People." I mean, I guess it's kind of like that in theory, but it's not a dead/alive person relationship.
TW- Patton's made fun of, tiny Patton cries and so does his mami. Mentions of death.
Patton's always been able to see ghosts. In all honesty, he didn't know that other people couldn't until he was 6.
"Mami, Mama! Grandma told me that you two remind her of her and Grandpa Bernard!" Patton said excitedly. That grandmother that he was talking about, he one that was married to Bernard had passed two years before Patton had turned six. Ava and Eva exchanged a look.
"Mom never approved of our relationship, Pat," Ava said, shifting into her wife's arms.
"That's your beef? Patton, Samantha passed when you were four. Are you alright?" Eva asked, wanting to kneel down, but didn't want to let go of her wife.
"W-What? I just saw her! And she said she was wrong! She said that you two are so great together!" Patton exclaimed, his excitement fading.
"Patton, it..." Ava put her hands on her upper-arm. "It must've been a dream," She said, her voice cracking.
Patton nodded, feeling bad for seemingly making his mama cry.
"Y-Yeah, it must've been a dream," Patton said in agreement. "Can I go back out to the garden?" He asked.
"Of course, Patton," Eva said with a small smile.
Patton clutched the cloth rabbit doll that his grandmother made for him when he was a baby. It was made of various clothes and had different sized button eyes.
"I'm guessing they didn't listen, Patton?" His grandmother asked. She looked like a blue spirit version of when she was alive.
"No. You were right," He said. "Can other people not see you, NaNa Sammy?" Patton asked, looking up at his dead grandmother.
"Some people can. But most people can't. You can," She hovered her hand above Patton's shoulder. "You're special, Patton. You're so special." A couple of tears fled from Patton's eyes.
"So you're dead?" Patton asked, sad. Samantha knelled down to face him.
"I am. But there's no need to cry. I'll always be here for you, Bubba," She said kindly. Patton wiped away his tears.
"I'm glad I can see you, NaNa..."
"I'm glad you can see me too," She said with a kind, old smile.
He didn't have any idea why until he was 10. He walked in on his moms talking about his uncle Andi. Apparently he could see ghosts too.
Since then, he's embraced it. He was kind to all, living and dead.
"Patton... Patton, wake up," Samantha said. Patton opened his eyes before sitting up, stretching happily.
"Good morning, NaNa," He said, slipping on his glasses.
"Good morning, Bubba," She said before phasing through the floor so Patton could get ready in private. He combed is shaggy, curly hair, dressed in his light blue collared shirt, a grey cardigan tied around his shoulders, khaki shorts and light grey sneakers. He slid down the banister to get to the first floor.
"Good morning, Mami!" Patton said, pecking her cheek, "Good Morning, Mama!" He said, doing the same to his mama.
"Good morning, Patton," Eva, his Mami, said happily. Ava sipped on her coffee.
