"Hey dad, when can we go back home?"

"What do you mean y/n? We haven't even landed in Gotham yet."

"I know but I want to go home already. This place gives me the creeps."

Even if you didn't live in Gotham, you would still know of how bad it's crime was. Of course it's gone down since the Batman made an appearance at night but it's still not on par with most cities. Everything else about it wasn't too bad. The buildings looked modern but also vintage, the streets looked dirty but were clean and the economic side is more stable than other countries. But there's just the feeling of threat that you didn't like.

"I understand what you mean, but hey we aren't staying for long, I just got some work meetings and stuff then we can go ho-"

Before he could finish, the plane began to shake violently which caused everyone to panic. You began to look around frantically as your dad glanced out the window. People were screaming and throwing their hands everywhere. Lights were cutting out and turning back on. The pilot's voice was cracking and inaudible.

"What's going on dad?"

"The engine seems to be...not working son. I'm sure we'll be ok though." He tried his best to reassure you but you were a smart kid. This was serious.

He rapidly made sure you were strapped in the seat properly and when the oxygen masks fell down, made no hesitation to put it over your mouth. Luggage was flinging around the isle and over people's heads while your dad was focusing on you like there was no tomorrow. Maybe there won't be.

You could here the plane approaching the ground at a rapid pace but this still didn't stop your dad. Even when you were strapped in properly, he covered you with most of his body and whispered in your ear a soft sentence.

"It's going to be ok, I'm here."

---------

You awoke to the area being in darkness. Maybe because your vision is still a bit hazy from the crash. But you were alive. Sirens were heard in the distance while a ringing noise rang out in your blooded ears. Red and blue flashing lights shone in your eyes from the now open windows. You go to lift your arm to cover your eyes from the blinding lights but feel it heavier than before. You shift your sight down and realise why. Your dad was lying on half of your body. Your eyes went wide. He had tons of blood pouring from his head and other parts. He was motionless. You scream for him to awake. No answer.

---------

Some time later and you're sitting in the back of an ambulance with a cover over you and someone treating your wounds. Cameras and reporters were all over the area and questioned some of the survivors who suffered the least. So much was happening and you zoned it all out. One question was floating around in your mind.

'Where were the heroes?'

No sign of them anyway, not even a late arrival. Had they not bother to show up? Seen it as a not urgent issue?

You knew that Gotham was mainly filled with vigilantes or heroes with no powers but there's still some who do. What about heroes like Superman who has superspeed and superstrength?

All of this made you annoyed. They were probably busy dealing with no lives who kill for fun. Time for a change, and you are to make the change.

--------

A few months has passed since the accident and you're just an orphan running through the rooftops of Gotham in some homemade combat gear. (Couldn't really call it homemade since you had no home).

You've already taken down no-lives that have poisoned this city like they own it. You were there to get the idea into their head that they can't do that, not with you around. News got around that a 12 year old kid was running around and beating up criminals. You had turn 12 just a few days after the crash. When you were meant to be at home.
