Zhilan ran across the court. Every ball the machine spat out, she hit over the net. With Coach Qi's help, she had signed up for her preferred tournament. She even gave her permission to use Yu Qing's courts whenever she wanted. She was excited for her upcoming match. Her cousins, Su Jian and Yingjie wished her luck when she texted them about her tournament.
"Someone's been working hard." Zhuo Zhi commented as he looked out the window into the indoor court.
The rest of the team gathered around to look.
"Zhilan has a match this Saturday." Coach Qi said as they watched.
"Really? No wonder she hasn't been around us for a while." Jiale said.
Baiyang clicked his tongue. "That's what you're concerned about?"
Their coach laughed. "She plays Saturday in the tennis park at noon. Go see her. I'm sure she'd appreciate it."
"You want us to skip practice?" Siyang asked slowly.
"Captain, please? We haven't taken any days off. Besides, Zhilan is our friend." Jiale begged.
"We could support her." Dachi agreed.
"We can have a dinner at the restaurant." Xinglong added.
"Yeah! We can celebrate if she wins or cheer her up if she loses." Qiao Chen said.
Lu Xia glanced over at him as if that were strange. "She'll win."
"I'm saying if she loses."
"And I'm saying she'll win."
"You-"
Despite his amusement with them, Siyang interrupted the pair. "Stop that. I suppose we should take Saturday off."
"All right, come on. Follow her example and work hard." Coach Qi commanded.
Zhilan tied her hair in a braided ponytail after slipping into her tennis dress. She put on her visor hat and slung her bag over her shoulder. After a quick train ride, she made it to the tennis park and signed in.
