Zhilan threw a tennis ball into the air and hit it over the net.
"Isn't it a little early to train?" Her uncle Xiangqian asked as he walked through the back gate of the house.
She shrugged. "I felt like it."
I finally get to play a match with Siyang.
She hit another ball.
"Don't forget to take a break though." He told her as he walked inside.
She smiled to herself at his gentle reminder and went about with some more training. She had something special in mind for this game.
Zhilan checked her phone as she finished her homework. She had plenty of time to get to Yu Qing. She grabbed her things and walked out of her room.
"Are you going to train?" Lu Xia asked as he passed her in the hall.
"No, I did that earlier."
He stared blankly at her. "Then, why do you have your tennis bag?"
She laughed softly. "I'm going to play a match."
"You are?"
"A friendly match. I'll be back later."
"Can I come watch?" He asked.
She stopped walking and turned around, humming. "No, I don't think I want you to. I'll see you later."
She left the house before he could protest. As Zhilan walked, she got a text message from Siyang.
'I left the court unlocked. I'll join you after I talk to Coach Qi.'
'Okay.'
She continued on her way and made it to the indoor courts. She put on her support brace and stretched as she patiently waited.
"I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long." Siyang said as he walked in.
Zhilan smiled and stood up to grab her racket. "A few minutes is nothing. Don't worry about it."
He set his bag down and grabbed his racket too. "You serve."
She laughed softly. "Ladies first. How polite. You didn't forget what I asked before, right?"
"I'll play seriously." He had a slight smirk on his face.
She grabbed a ball from a nearby cart and bounced it a couple of times on the court. "You better."
With that, she threw the ball in the air and hit it over the net. Siyang returned it with ease. The first rally seemed endless. Zhilan finally broke through with a smash and scored. She served again and another long rally went on. Again, she scored. Eventually, the score came to 1-0 with her leading.
He chuckled softly. "Good point."
She walked back to the baseline, feeling proud and waited for Siyang's serve. She returned it and noticed he was forcing her to the corners. He barely moved as he continued to hit the ball on her side.
