"I'm finished." Zhilan said as she slid her worksheet to Siyang.
He read through her answers carefully and nodded. "Everything's correct."
She smiled widely at him. "Thanks for coming over to help me. I hope I didn't intrude on any Friday plans."
He shrugged. "Fishing can wait."
"Aw, I come before fishing. I feel special."
A knock sounded and they both turned to her uncle Xiangqian standing at the entrance of her room. "Is everything okay here?"
Zhilan sighed. "Uncle, we're fine."
"I just wanted to check that my precious niece was doing well."
"You've been checking every five minutes." She said deadpanned.
Her uncle laughed nervously. "No, I haven't. I'm- I'm leaving now."
She shook her head. "Sorry about him. He's being weird."
"I hadn't noticed."
She laughed and her phone rang. "Excuse me."
She stood up and answered. "Hello."
"Hey, kiddo. Are you free tonight?" Su Jian asked.
"I think so. Why?"
"I want to take you to dinner and catch up. I'm sorry I didn't really stick around last week after your game."
"It's okay. What time are we going?"
"At seven. Send me your address. I'll come get you. I'll see you later, kiddo. Oh, dress nice too. The restaurant's a bit formal."
She hung up and chuckled softly.
"Good news?" Siyang asked as he stood up.
"I'm going to have dinner with Su Jian. You met him, right?"
He remembered the strange looks he got from the man. "I don't think he liked me very much."
"Why do you think that?"
"I'm not completely sure. He just didn't seem particularly happy with me."
Zhilan hummed. "I'm sure that'll go away. He doesn't know you like I do. Remember, when we met?"
"You tried to hide from me."
"But I got to know you and we became friends. That's what matters." She interjected.
Siyang let out a low chuckle. "I'll get going."
"I'll walk you out." She looped her arm through his.
He blinked in surprise, but went with it. They walked all the way to the bottom of the stairs.
"I'll see you later." Zhilan smiled and walked back inside.
With that, he left.
