Alexis Abner is all set to celebrate her 18th birthday. Like every other high-schooler, she too throws a party at the local club. But, the night takes an unexpected turn when she meets a mysterious stranger. Ethan Campbell introduces her to a world...
The satin blue robe fluttered up and down in the fierce wind; just like a blue flame being flickered by a cool breeze. But, that wasn't the only thing going erratic, trees were being uprooted from the earth, water currents swirled in the atmosphere, while, a ring of blazing fire was suspended in the air. Dusk did not settle, yet the sky was dyed in a deep shade of purple, as if an artist had accidently spilled the color on his canvas. A glowing white light casted a silhouette of a tall man. His body was built like a Greek God and a blue robe was the only thing he wore. The muscles of his arms and legs were strained; he stood in front of the bright light with open arms, as if inviting a dear friend. There was a zapping noise before a brilliant shock of lightning fork hits him; electrocuting his entire body.
Gritting his teeth, he screamed in pain. He clenched his fist and dropped on his knees; while the hot currents of lightning, pounded into his body furiously, as if the discharged energy was being absorbed by him.
An older man and an 18-year-old boy saw the whole thing from a safe distance; they had taken cover behind a giant rock.
"He did it!" The older man whispered to the boy. "He did exactly what he said he would do; he opened the rift." His jaw locked.
The boy looked nervously at his senior. "Do you think this will work?"
"We have to stop him, no matter what!" The man replied.
"What if something goes wrong? What if I lose command? I don't think I can do it." Fear gripped the boy; his breath quickened as he clutched the gleaming red crystal in his hands.
"Just focus son, try to suppress your anger, everything else will be fine." The man placed his hand on the boy's shoulder reassuringly.
"Sir, if this goes sideways, he will kill us both."
"He can't kill you! I won't let that happen." The man looks at the figure hunched in front of the white light; it was preparing to stand again.
"Go now!" The older man ordered the boy; who began advancing towards the robed figure.
The boy was scared; his palms were sweaty and the fear coursing through his system was making it hard for him to think logically. He had to prove himself to his seniors; that he can stop the evil ahead of them, but the wild fire in him was like a beast he was unable to tame. He had to sustain his energy and defeat the man before him.
He walked slowly, until he was 3 meters apart from the man; the air, water, fire and boughs were reeling furiously around the man.
"Asmodeus!" The boy called out over the mayhem.
The robed man turned around; his body was gleaming with currents; hot blue and pure white sparks were discharging frantically. His blonde hair was ruffling in the wind. The thing that made the boy's blood run cold, was his face; there were dark violet cracks across his features. His eyes were glinting, like light shining through an amethyst.
"Stop this!" The boy commanded him.
"Can't you see? This is all I ever wanted. I feel it's power; formidable and mighty!" He gave a condescending grin while his voice stayed pleasant.
"Then you leave me no choice." With that the boy clutched the red crystal in his right hand and instantly a red flame erupted. It hovered around for few seconds before striking the land in front of him. Red cracks split the ground, creating a deep fiery pit.
"Come on Boy! You can't possibly lock me up, you are too weak. I've seen you break down; you can't even contain your essence, which makes you pathetic against me. So, just give up and return to that orphanage of yours."
Rage flowed through the boy like lava; his bones got heated up and he felt feverish. His chest rose as he tried to push down his frustration. But, the attempt was futile. Anger was now pulsing through his veins; fiery orange flames spark in his eyes. His grip on the crystal tightens.
The land beneath their feet trembled, the red-hot pit started to seal itself once again, and the ground returned to its original form.
"No!" A throaty scream emerged from the boy as flames surrounded him and levitated him in midair.
There was a thunderous flash of white light, the boy repelled and was hurled 7 meters away from the man.
"So much for the 'Fire Essence'." The robed man shook his head mockingly. He closed his eyes and sensed the presence of the older man behind the rocks. "Come out of your hiding, Samuel, I know you are there."
The older man named Samuel; did as he was told. He halted right where the boy stood moments ago. His composure was calm and relaxed, he didn't fear the man before him, but rather felt sad and disheartened.
"You should really stop this Asmodeus. You still have time. You can set things right." Samuel reassured the robed man.
"You don't mean that! You just tried to lock me up using your boy scout. Too bad, your pitiful plan didn't work out; the kid snapped." He laughed hysterically at Samuel.
"I never expected it to work; he is still a child." He looks at the body that was lying in a heap. "But, you are not! You should know that there are other ways of sealing the rift." Samuel lifted up his hand and revealed a wide cut across his palm; red blood was oozing out.
"What did you do?" Asmodeus' voice dropped.
"What had to be done." Samuel balled his fist and recited an incantation.
"No!"
At once, the ground opened up and swallowed the two men.
