"Are you sure that is Nick's?" Ethan's muffled voice comes from behind the basement door.
"One hundred percent." Halitus replies in the affirmative.
"When did the beep die out?"
"It lasted for 15 seconds, then I received a message in my inbox, saying they found the Crystal. They mentioned their co-ordinates too."
"What else did it say?"
"Other than the absurd text? Nothing." Halitus slips her cell back in her pocket. Everything is escalating way too fast to process. I don't follow a single word.
As soon as Halitus showed a text message she received in her phone, Ethan raced to the basement.
Halitus keeps mentioning some distress call that she received from Nick when she was out for a stroll. And also, the text, where Nick states that he found the red beryl crystal. It seems like a good news; but the way these two are reacting is agitating. Both of them are in a rush, it almost feels like they have forgotten me.
"42.9; north, -122.1; west. It's got to be Klamath County." Ethan emerges in the room, all geared up. His regular jeans and olive jacket are thrown in a haste. He dumps his duffle bag on the bed and ran-sacks through it.
"Ethan, doesn't this seem a little bit easy to you?" Halitus sounds suspicious.
"Way too easy. It's a trap." He looks at Halitus. "That's why I'll go check it out. You stay with her. Make sure you keep your phone on, in case I find something useful, I'll call you."
He hurls his daggers in the bag and dashes in the next room as if scanning for stuff that he would need for his journey.
"Wait!" I cut-in their speeding conversation. "What do you mean trap?" I ask Halitus.
"Price will never send a distress call, if he had truly found the crystal. Even if he did, he would never risk his location by sending accurate coordinates on cell."
"So...?"
"So, there are either two possibilities. One; Maybe, Nick lost his phone and this is a text from the monsters hired by Azazel, to drag us out of our hiding, so that they can strike you, out in the open. Or..." She pauses.
"Or?"
"Or they killed both; Price and Morpheus. And, set this trap."
My brain freezes. It's far-fetched. This is just a theory that Halitus came up with. Nick can't die! Neither can Marty.
They are one of the most skillful and strong allies we have, more than that; they are my friends. They promised to meet me again. They can't break their promise!
"Either way, I have to check it out." Ethan slings his duffle bag on his shoulder and heads for the door.
"Stop!" I intentionally get in the way. "You don't know anything about the monsters. How will you fight them?" My voice is shaky, but I didn't care.
"I'll figure it out." He looks pissed at my opposition. When he tries to reach for the door, I get in the way once again.
"I'm coming with you." This time, I speak with a tint of confidence. Ethan looks at me for a second, before backing away and leaning against the dresser.
He is furious, I can tell by his body language. Regardless, I didn't care what he thinks. I won't back down this time.
"No, you're not." He mutters, it is a warning. He sounds like he is making an effort to hold back his anger, when in reality he wants to smack me out of his way.
