With extreme force, he drives his heel into the door and busts it open, the menacing kick almost throws the door off its hinges. Wood dust fogs the air as the splintered door dangles helplessly on its rusted studs as Ethan storms in the next room.

I involuntarily follow in his wake.

"It's you!" Ethan puts down his weapon, so does Halitus.

"You don't say." Halitus rolls her eyes. "This place is barely 400 square feet." She gestures to the open back door from where she entered.

"Did you find anything?" Ethan inquires.

"As a matter of fact. Yes, black goo; all around the perimeter." She puts her hand in the pocket, and pulls out an iPhone, with the same black substance all over its cracked screen. "And this, Price's phone; the one that sent out the distress call."

"No sign of him." Ethan sighs, as he puts the safety-on of his gun.

"No. But, the black goo. It's a problem." Halitus' sounds nervous.

"What is it?"

"At first, I thought it was ectoplasm, but the matter was way too stretchy." She glances at me before continuing, "I think we are dealing with a leviathan."

...

Few hours later.

"A what?" I ask.

"Leviathans are creatures who have a sweet-tooth for human flesh, Although, they like to reside in old, abandon places, that are away from human habitat. They don't usually hunt in daylight."

Halitus might have educated us with a super useful information, but it is too late now, the night has already fallen.

"I thought they were extinct." Ethan cocks his gun once again.

"It doesn't seem that way anymore." Halitus replies turning on her flash light.

"So, these were the blood-thirsty monsters that the tridents hired to assassin the altruists?"

"The good thing is, we know how to kill them."

"And what's the bad thing?" I can feel the horror creeping in me as I wait for my question to be answered.

"They are known to be exceptionally agile."

I gulp as I scan the gloomy room. These things are fast and they eat human-flesh. I seem to be the most fit to fill their food description. My reflexes suck.

A screeching noise in the dark corner of the room drains the color off my face. It sounds like rattling hiss, of a snake, but at the same time, the low grunts almost sound like human.

I turn to face the darkness. Has the monster been hiding here the whole time?

At first I spot two pairs of white, polo-looking irises in the darkness. As the creature comes into the light of Halitus' flash. It reveals it's almost human self. It is wearing a shirt and pants, nevertheless, they are torn and frayed in many places, black and brown stains are all over its clothes. Although, it's face looks saggy and pale.

"I figured you'd come here." When it speaks, its lips don't move, but rather broadens, as if giving a wide smile. His hoarse voice is enough to rise the bile to my throat.

"Where is Nick?" Ethan aims his gun at the creature; his voice firm.

I look over to find Halitus pointing the arrow of her crossbow at the creature too. I try not to notice the blood dripping from his hand. Is he bleeding?
