Alexis
I feel like I am trapped in an endless sea of people. I feel claustrophobic. There is noise everywhere. I hear someone wailing, a woman probably. Two people; fighting angrily while slamming their huge wooden mugs on the rugged table and spilling the beer all over it. On top of that, it is extremely humid. The jacket I wore feels itchy as sweat trickles down my back. The smell of beer and fried chicken hangs in the air. I rest my hand on the rough paintwork that coats the door and push it. Sharp wooden splinters cut into my palm; but I can't register the pain due to the chaotic aura. The wooden floor board squeals, as though they are a warning, but their plea is silenced by a wall of noise. The bar is blaring with Metallica. What timeline are these people living in?
"Oh! If it isn't the handsome; Ethan Campbell!", a dark-brown hair middle-age woman greets us across the bar counter. Her skin is a bit greenish at the temples, and is wearing a dark puce lip-stick.
"Elvira, it's good to see you." His tone is gentle when he speaks to her, completely different from the cold Ethan I knew.
"It's good to see you too." She glances at me. "And who is this young lady? Elvira Barnes." She extends her greenish hand towards me.
"Hi, I'm Alexis Abner." I happily shake hands. Her palm feels colder than usual. Her friendly aura suddenly drops as her eyes flicker and lands on Ethan.
"Elvira owns this establishment; she keeps contacts with all supernatural beings. Besides that, she is extremely knowledgeable and can help us."
Wow, Impressive.
"Okay, enough about me. Alexis dear, would you like to drink something?" She asks politely.
"No thanks, I'll be fine."
"Ethan, can I talk to you alone, for a moment?" She gestures to the swinging door behind the counter that led into another room.
"Stay here, I won't be long." With that he disappears behind the doors.
...
"Whoever's keeping you waiting is making a huge mistake." A husky voice makes me turn to face a handsome looking individual sitting too close to me. His skin is pearly white. He is definitely not human; because humans rarely have different color irises, even if they did, it would surely not be blood red and oceanic blue. He looks unusually charming with his platinum wavy hair which is combed neatly.
"How do you know that someone is keeping me waiting?" I try to ignore the flirtation.
"I'm a Djinn. I can sense human auras." He leans closer making me push my bar stool away from his. "And you are feeling regret, rage and you're scared." He states the last emotion in a surprising tone. Well, he was mostly right. I do feel regret that I agreed to come with that nut job, also I'm angry that he leaves me alone for 15 minutes in this freak of a place.
"I comprehend the train of emotions you feel, a beautiful girl like you, in a place like this. I have to say you've got the most alluring pair of brown eyes I've ever seen. I'm a friend of Elvira's by the way, Name's Marty."
"Oh! I'm Ale-."
I am cut-off by Ethan's voice. "Morpheus! Why don't you keep your hands to yourself?"
Perplexed for a moment, I look down and find Marty's arm snaking around my waist. I quickly recoil away from the bar.
But, Marty was so kind.
"Ethan! I didn't notice you were here. I thought you were on a mission." Morpheus or Marty whatever his name is, speaks as he sizes me up and returns his gaze back to Ethan.
