Okay, so this chapter exists for two reasons.
First, I wanted to confirm who the characters from the last chapter were based on.
Fukunoko is based off of Bernadetta from Fire Emblem Three Houses.Ototko is based off of the Man-Thing from Marvel comics.
And Kai is just a Kaiju. He's not actually based on King Ghidorah and is more just a basic hydra.
I'm actually really surprised how many people recognized Bernadetta. Guess she's more popular than I thought. Seeing how she is my favorite fire emblem character, that makes me very, very happy.
The second reason this chapter exists is because of the O.C. 's people keep sending me.
Now in the first O.C. rules I said that the quirk has to be overpowered and harmful to others. But not so overpowered that it broke the established rules of the MHA world.
Apparently I was not clear enough, as I keep finding myself repeating the same few things everytime I respond to a submission.
It's too O.P.
It's not dangerous.
Only Nomu's can have multiple quirks.
These are the main three problems I keep bumping into, so I'll address them right here. In detail.
What is too O.P.?
Now in the world of MHA has a lower power scale than that of many other anime and comic books. This is something many people forget.
Something people also forget is that these are supposed to be children. Children with untrained quirks.
So with that said, do not compare these children to All Might.
All Might is head and shoulders above almost all the other characters of MHA, because his quirk breaks many of the rules. So if you're making your character and using All Might as a comparison, then they're too strong.
Now that doesn't mean you can't make a character that could, technically, "beat All Might".
Kei could technically beat All Might if she got in front of him. But that's not what I'm talking about. That's hax. I'm talking about power, speed and durability
If you say,
As fast as All Might. Half as fast as All Might. Can keep up with All Might. Or anything like that, they're too fast. (Unless there's a huge consequence to this.)
If you say,
As strong as All Might. Half as strong as All Might. Could Arm wrestle All Might. Or anything like that, then they're too strong(Again unless there are big consequences).
No having them able to one shot huge buildings or cities or mountains. With some exceptions. I saw one O.C. submission where the character had the ability to collapse any structure they were in. They're not destroying the building with their power but with their hax. And that has limits in how it can be used. That's fine.
Also can we not pretend that pro heroes are chumps? They have all been trained at hero schools on how to best use their power and many of them have experience taking down powerful and dangerous villains. These children may be O.P. but that doesn't mean they can just beat pro heroes willy nilly.
I said that Kiba held off some pro heroes, but I never specified which ones so they were most like low rank nobodies, and I said she held them off, not defeated them.
Of course some of the O.P. children could defeat some lower rank pro heroes, or if they had a power that fully countered a pro then they could beat them.
For example Sansan could probably take on Death Arms depending on the environment.
But that's it.
Also while we're at it, no bashing.
The MHA fanfic community is full of bashing for many reasons which I won't get into. The main reason being that MHA is full of complex and more realistic characters than one would normally see. Meaning that sometimes the good guys do morally questionable if not downright morally wrong things. Does that make them bad people? Much like real life, that's complicated, and I don't think I have the right to judge that.
Heroes like Endeavor and Mt Lady despite their large hatedom, are still, in universe, powerful and skilled pro heroes.
I'm not going to turn any character into a weak, one dimensional, out of character parody of themselves, just because me or someone else doesn't like them.
What is a dangerous quirk?
Okay, so when I said the quirks had to be dangerous, I meant to OTHERS. Not THEMSELVES.
The quirk can be dangerous to themselves sure, but primarily it has to be dangerous to other people.
Now there are multiple ways of doing this.
1: A powerful yet uncontrollable quirk.
This one is simple. Give them a powerful quirk but make it hard to control.
Make it hard to turn on, hard to turn off, activate randomly or in response to cetien common stimuli. Easy.
2: Can't turn it off.
Also easy. Give them a quirk they can't turn off.
Sansan is always made of acid unless she uses a certain chemical and Kei's eyes will always turn people to stone if they look at them.
3: The quirk requires the user to eat people.
Again simple. It's in the name. The quirk makes it so the user must eat other people, or drink their blood or something like that, to live.
Examples are Kiba and Shiruku.
4: Powerful quirk, mentaly unstable child.
Now this one is less about the quirk and more the child themselves. You can give a child a powerful quirk and make it not dangerous, but if the child with the quirk is mentialy unstable, then the quirk becomes dangerous.
There are probably more things you can do; these are just my examples.
Only Nomus can have multiple quirks.
Okay so, I know what many of you are thinking.
Shoto Todoroki.
I have said this over and over again. Officially. Shoto has one quirk. It just does two things. Is that kind bullshit? Yes. But that's how it is.
Also, Shoto was created to be like that. Endeavor tried his hardest to find someone to "mate" with to create his perfect offspring, and even then it took a few "attempts'' before he got what he wanted. It wasn't a random chance that Shoto ended up with his O.P. kind of rule breaking quirk. Endeavor basically abused the rules(and several other things and people) of how quirks work to make him.
Now that's not to say they can't have multiple abilities.
Asui for example, has multiple abilities. She can jump very high, has a long tongue, can camouflage herself, can make mucus. But all those abilities stem from her one quirk. She can do what frogs can do.
Sansan for example, can make use of her acid, but also can make use of her liquid form and basically has Mr Fantastic powers too. That's not multiple quirks it's just her one quirk being used in multiple ways.
But they are all related to each other. Asui can't also breath fire. Because that's not something frogs can do. Sansan can't fly because that's not something her slimy body can do.
Okay so I think I explained this well. The next chapter should be out relatively soon.
