Colby's POV
"Colby, sit down...please." Sam begged as I paced the room. "I can't, Sam!" I yelled as Ki stood up and put her hand on my arm. "I know you're scared, but you're still healing..." She said quietly as I shook my head. "It's been almost a week." I said as Sam stood up and sat me down.
"The police are working on her case. They aren't giving up." Sam said as I shook my head. "They said with every day she's missing the chances of her being alive are cut in half." I said and twisted my rings.
"Don't say that." Ki whispered as she looked at the ground. I had never seen her be so quiet, so she must have been just as scared as I was.
"She's gonna be okay." Kat said quietly as I reached over and took Ki's hand, patting it reassuringly. "Have you heard anything?" Sam asked as I shook my head. "They're going through the suspects, trying to find any evidence but they can't pinpoint any real leads." I said with a sigh.
It was so frustrating going through this without any knowledge on what happened. It was hard to wrap my head around the idea that she just disappeared. Her car was nowhere to be found and neither was she.
The police looked through accident reports and even looked at the security footage for the outside of the hospital but they couldn't see anything since her car wasn't in the area that the cameras were.
Nothing came up.
I refused to believe that she was gone forever though. I refused to think that I had my last moments with her. I didn't even know the last thing I said to her. I hoped that it was that I loved her but it didn't matter.
This wasn't the end.
"I don't like that Peter guy." Ki said and picked at her nails again. "I don't either." I said as Sam shook his head. "Just because he was the last person to see her doesn't mean he has anything to do with it." He said as I nodded.
"I know that, but don't you think it's a little suspicious? Why would she be stumbling in the hallway like she was? It was almost like she was drunk....wait....drunk!" I said then stood up. "You're not getting drunk right now." Sam said and stood up with me.
"No. Remember when I was drunk and Jordan drugged me? That could have something to do with this." I said as Sam looked at me confusion. "You think Jordan has something to do with this?" He asked as I shook my head.
"No, but I think drugs have something to do with this. I've seen Violet at her most tired state and she didn't stumble the way she was stumbling in that video. She was more than tired." I said then pulled out my phone.
"What are you doing?" Kat asked as I texted the detective that was on our case. I didn't know how this information would help but I was willing to try anything at this point.
I just wanted her home and safe in my arms.
After I texted him I got a phone call a couple minutes later, but it was from Sophia. "Hey." I answered and raked my fingers through my hair.
"Hey...I think you should come to the hospital. We found something." She said as my heart raced. "Okay. I'm leaving now." I said then went towards the door as Sam, Kat, and Ki followed.
"What's going on?" Sam asked as I handed him my keys. "Sophia said they found something." I said as we made our way to the car.
"What do you mean? What did she find?" Ki asked and got in the backseat with Kat. "No idea, but it must be important." I said as Sam started driving us to the hospital.
My mind raced as I went through every scenario of what they found. Was it Violet's car? Or her necklaces or something? Did they find her? Or was it something else?
I guess I would just have to find out.
When we got to the hospital we went to Sophia's office where she was sitting with a cop. "What's going on?" I asked as she nodded her head towards an empty chair. "Take a seat." She said as I nodded and sat down.
"We got a warrant to search the locker of Peter Chavez." The officer said as I nodded slowly. "We found this." He said then slid over a plastic bag that had a couple pictures and a locket of hair.
Violet's hair.
"What the fuck is this?" I asked feeling the anger boil within me. The picture on top was of Violet, sitting in one of the lawn chairs in the backyard. She was curled up in one of my sweatshirts, writing in her journal. There was no reason for him to have a photo like this.
Why did he have this in his locker?
"We think he's been stalking her." Sophia said as my jaw clenched. "Where the hell is he?" I asked as Sam put his hand on my shoulder. "We don't know, we went to the address that he has listed on his paperwork here, but nobody lives there." The officer explained as I closed my eyes.
"We're doing everything in our power to find him since he probably has her. Stalkers don't usually kill their victims." The officer said as I nodded slowly.
"Why would someone do that?" Ki asked as Kat hugged her. "It's usually due to childhood trauma. Did he ever mention anything to you about a rough childhood?" The officer asked Sophia.
"No, he's been nothing but lovely to everyone here. He does his job, helps others, then goes home. I can't even imagine why he would be doing this to Violet." Sophia said as she closed her eyes with frustration.
"Do you think he's been stalking her for long? Is that why he got a job here? Because he knew she would come back to work?" Sam asked as I closed my eyes, feeling heart break at how scared she probably was.
"That's probably a safe assumption." The cop said as I opened my eyes and looked at him. "What's the plan?" I asked as he nodded once. "I've sent my team out to scope out every inch of Los Angeles. I'm sending these in to be tested for finger prints to make sure that these weren't planted here." He said as I nodded.
"What are the odds she won't be...alive." Sam said as Kat took my hand and squeezed it. "It's hard to tell...I'm worried that he might try something if he finds out we are onto him." He said as my heart dropped to my ass.
"It's not likely, but not impossible. Get home, try to get some rest. I know it's gonna be hard but we are looking wherever we can." He said as I nodded.
"I'll keep you updated. Seriously, get some rest Colby. Violet would want you to stay safe." Sophia said as we all filed out of the office. "You know that's not gonna happen." I said with a dry laugh as she nodded.
"I know, but just try." Sophia said then smiled reassuringly at me. I was trying so hard to stay positive and that she was alive but something was aching in my chest telling me that she wasn't. I knew it was probably just my anxiety but I couldn't shake the feeling.
"This is fucking insane." Ki said as we got in the car. "I want to kick his ass." Sam said as I nodded. "I agree." I said then looked down at my hands. "No matter what happens, that's not happening. You're injured Colby." Sam said as I shook my head.
"I don't give a fuck if I'm injured! She could be dead! If she is I swear to god I'll kill him with my bare hands, I don't care." I said with so much venom in my voice Sam looked at me with concern.
"You need to calm down." He said gently as I shook my head. "You need to be less calm." I retorted then looked forwards again.
When we got home I went straight to Violet's room and closed the blinds then laid on her bed. I laid there for a while, letting the anxiety eat away at me. I couldn't exactly wrap my head around was happening but there was also nothing I could really do about it.
"Please be okay, V." I whispered as I scrubbed my face with my hands.
I knew that I just had to wait but this was quite literally killing me on the inside.
We were so close to finding her, but also so far.
