Curly and red. Kinda frizzy but not to bad. I am admiring my reflection I my mirror. I wonder if my hair would look better blonde, or brown, or black. Or straight, or in a ponytail, or-

"PENNY! GET DOWN HERE!"

And there's my brother Rick. Always so gentle. I trudged downstairs, not having anytime to do anything to make my hair look decent. I opened the pantry to get cereal. That's the only thing I eat every morning. The only thing we can afford.

My parents left me and my brother when I was about nine, Rick was 15, my age now. He passes off as a legal guardian, although I can't see why. He's never home and whenever he is it's with some girl he met or one of his friends. Speaking of, none of his friends are here... strange- peaceful.

My peace ended before I could blink. Dale came
Storming through the front door. Dale is one of Rick's friends. I can't see why, they are polar opposites. Dale is so handsome he makes people drool Rick makes me want to barf. Dale is sweet and caring, Rick is loud and annoying. The list goes on even further from that.

"Hey Pen." Dale said to me.

"Dale I told you not to call me pen! It makes me think of a chicken pen..."

"It's a chicken coop."

"Whatever."

I dug into my cereal before I was late for school. I was still in my pajamas... I had to hurry. Plus I had to pick up Holly. She's been my best friend for as long as I could remeber. I said by to Rick and Dale and went to the everlasting torture chamber- school.
