I opened my stained window and crawled out. Rick was no where in sight. I ran the whole way out of our little neighborhood, then casually walked the rest of the way. I was completely out of breath. I wondered what time it was, I probably should have grabbed a watch. I entered the nearest convenient store and walked up to the counter where a middle aged women stood with her face stuffed in a book.
"Excuse me but do you know what time it is?"
I asked sweetly.
"Nope."
"Well don't you have a watch or something?"
I was getting a little aggravated now.
"I have a watch, but I'm too busy to look at it."
"Busy? Busy? Doing what, you can't be helping people in the store cause no one comes in here anyways! This place is a dump!"
I looked at her face and saw anger fueling up inside. Her face turned red and she slammed her book down.
"Excuse me but a lot of people come to this store and they enjoy my assistance!"
"Hold on one second, can I see your left wrist?"
She cautiously moved her arm towards me, I examined it, not her arm her watch.
"4:45! I'm gonna be late!" I threw down her hand and bolted out of the store.
"Don't come back!"
I heard her screeching after me,
"Wouldn't dream of it!"
I yelled in response. I was gonna be late and Holly was gonna kill me, with kindness. Perhaps the worst way to kill someone. She'll say,
I trusted you!
You left me alone!
I forgive you though, everyone makes mistakes. How awful is that? I was close to the theater, just like one block away. If I'm late, I won't be terribly late, I'll be fashionably late.
When I walked into the dark theater I see the back of Holly's head. She nervously looked down at her watch probably wondering where I was. Next to her was a head with black wavy hair- Dominique, next to that was a head with auburn hair- Zeus, and next to that a head with equally dark and wavy hair as Dominique, but short and in boy form- Luke. It was strange Dale wasn't here. Iwalk up to them and plop down next to Luke.
"Hey Lukey Pookie."
"Hey Pen."
"I don't like being called Pen."
"I don't like being called Lukey Pookie."
I stuck my tongue out at Luke. I turned around to focus on the movie. It was boring. Then I remembered Holly's date. I got up from my seat and walked over to hers.
"Hi Penny,"
Holly whispered to me,
"I thought you'd never come, wanna meet my date!"
"Of course, now show me,"
She gestured to the boy sitting next to her. It was- Max.
