Chapter 19 ~ Come back to me

Y/n's POV:

I rush over to her kneeling down beside her "OMG Madison!" her body continues to seize up still shaking and I panic looking down at her with her eyes all the way back in her head, I shakily grab my phone to call an ambulance. "911 what's your emergency?" I try to calm down my breathing so she can understand me "m-my girlfriend just collapsed. I t- I think she's having a seizure" I take shaky breaths while Madison continues to shake uncontrollably "okay miss I need you to put something under her head and move away any sharp objects, an ambulance is on the way" I gulp and grab a pillow off the couch putting it under her head and turning her on her side, so she doesn't choke "is this her first seizure?" I don't answer and just look down at my girlfriend worried "miss I need you to tell me if this is her first seizure" I try to think "I- yes? I don't know" Madison's movements slow down to a point where she is just twitching slightly "s- she's not shaking anymore" I look down Madison's body and back up to her face while drool goes down her lip along with foam "Madison can you hear me?" she doesn't respond, she just lies there looking lifeless apart from her uneven breathing "w- what does it mean if there is foam coming from her mouth?" I say panicking more "has she recently had any alcohol or drugs" "what? No, she hates that shit" I hear the operator sigh "has she recently had a head injury?" I go to answer but then I remember what happened at the theatre "y- yeah, yeah she has" I go to turn her body to the side in the 'recovery position' but she starts seizing again "no, no, no, no, NO!" I put the phone down and put it on speaker trying to find any way to help my girlfriend "miss you need to tell me what's going on" I shake my head scanning over her body "she's seizing again" I wipe the foam and saliva from the corner of her mouth and then suddenly she stops, she stops seizing and it seemed like she stopped breathing.

I lean down putting my ear to her mouth and she doesn't let out a breath "Madison?" I say shakily "she- she's not breathing. She's not breathing!!" I say even more panicked "okay, miss I'm going to need you to perform CPR, do you know how to do that?" I think but my brain is too overwhelmed "n- no I can't remember" I take a deep breath "tilt her head up, cover her nose, put your lips to hers and blow" I do as the operator says and see Madison's chest rise "do that twice and then put your hand flat on her chest just under where her ribs connect and put your dominant hand over the weaker interwinding your fingers, lock your shoulders and use your body weight to push down into her chest 30 times" I do as I'm told, pushing my hands into her chest looking down at her "come on Madison, please" I say with tears flooding my eyes as I continue and then do two more breaths before going back to the chest compressions "Baby please, please come back to me." I go a little faster as the woman tells me to "princess I need you. Breathe, I need you to breathe" I clench my jaw as I continue "Madison, you cannot fucking leave me!" I hear sirens outside and then I hear people rushing inside taking over the actions I was doing and trying to pull me away from her "NO! GET THE FUCK OFF ME!" I yell at the top of my lungs trying to move back to my girlfriend lying lifeless on the floor, tears start rolling down my cheeks as they put her on a stretcher and take her out to the ambulance, I get in with her my hands shaking while I whisper "please baby, I need you to come back to me. Just come back to me okay Madison. Please, I love you so much I can't lose you."

We get to the hospital and they rush Madison into a room while I wait outside panicking Anna and Madison's parents show up because I called them, Anna hugs me immediately to try and calm me gently stroking my hair before pulling away "have they said anything?" she asks, I shake my head "t- they won't let me in" I hang my head in distress "it was so-" Anna shakes her head and kisses the top of mine "you don't need to explain" I keep my eyes on the floor and then we all sit down, I tried to stay awake but the more I fought it the more tired I grew and I fell asleep on Anna's shoulder. 2 hours later I'm woken up and the doctor looks down at me "Y/n?" I nod sitting up "uhm yeah?" I gulp "follow me" he says, I stand up a little worried. We walk into a room where Madison's parents are sat, the doctor looks to me "Miss Beer-" I cut him off "its Madison" he nods "Madison's parents have said that you should be included in this decision because you know her well and have a better idea of what she would want" I gulp looking down at my feet already assuming the worst "is she?" he shakes his head "she's stable" I let out a sigh of relief "but you have a choice" I look up at him confused "a choice? What do you mean a choice?" he looks down at his clipboard "Madison's previous head injury has caused her to have brain damage." My heart drops and I look up to her parents "no. No this can't be true. Tell me this isn't true" he mom just looks down and I look to the doctor "no" I whisper not knowing how else to react "there are two choices, either we leave it, and she continues to have seizures, or she could go to surgery which could fix the problem" I look down at my feet and back up "well then that's the only choice right? We have to fix it" he shakes his head "because of her age the surgery could result in major side effects... even death."
