The Aftermath

I wish I could hold you through it

Julie's POV: 

I appear in this dark room, its silent and cold, broken and sad. Just how i'd imagine death would feel like, did i die? 

"HELLO" i yell, there's an echo but no answer. 

"anybody here?" just then, there a bright light glowing and someone appears, mom? 

"mom?" 

"julie, baby" she says running over to me. 

"mom" i say hugging her. 

"what? what are you doing here?" she ask pulling back and brushing my hair back. 

"i'm not sure" i say. 

"you didn't, oh god" she half- sobs. she starts to pace

"mom what's wrong?" i ask, walking back to her. 

"baby, this is the afterlife"

"no no, thats-thats impossible. I-I was just with Luke. I saw Flynn and Reggie on the couch together. I- we haven't made our album yet" i say rambling. 

"oh Julie" she says sobbing and pulling me in for a hug. 

"mom, what's happening?" 

"baby,  i sent the boys there cause i thought they could help you"

"you did?"

"yes, i knew they needed someone and you did too. Julie, your special" 

"what do you mean?" 

"you have the power to connect with people through music. You can connect with their souls. That's how the guys came back to life, you were there beckon. 

"why am i here?" 

"someone took your power, but baby you have to go back"  My mom says stroking my hair. 

I tell her all about the guys and Caleb. I tell her about the Orpheum and the record deal. But mostly, i tell her just how much i missed her. 

"i don't wanna leave you" i say, tears streaming down my face. "But-" i don't wanna  leave her, i wanna stay in her arms but i can't not see the guys again. If i stay, i'll never joke with Flynn again. I'll never talk about Luke with Carrie, I'll never pick out clothes with Alex or Make food with Reggie. But most of all, i'll never see Luke again. I'll never get to hold his hand or kiss him. i look down at my hand, i look at my ring. I made a promise and they are waiting for me down there.

"i know but they need you and you need them. Julie they brought music back to you and they saved you, you did the same. it's not your time yet" she says. i nod and she places a tender kiss on my head, disappearing just as fast as she appeared. i look around but the room is just empty and dark. i pull my knees to my chest and hide my face. 

Luke's POV: 

we get hit with jolt after jolt. For a moment though, it stops. i decide to get up and i grab Julie's lifeless body. i carry Julie to her room and i hold her in her bed. i look around, the flowers from last night still here. The candy and bear. I see her dream box, her picture of her mom. I look over at her desk and see her dress, laying on the chair. 

"jules, im so sorry. it's all my fault, your gone and i didn't even get to say goodbye" i sob. i kiss her cheek and start to get up.  Then Julie starts to glow. 

"GUYS" i yell, they all come racing up and stop quickly. We watch the glow start at her chets and spread down her arms and legs. Then all over.

"she-shes glowing" Flynn stutters. no one moves as we watch.
