[HALFWAY TO HELL]

(Mikes pov)

We needed to see who was the new host that is part of the Mind Flayer. Our first suspect was Billy, Max's brother.

We headed to the pool, hiding behind a car, spying on Billy lounging at the pool.

"I mean he's lounging at the pool, that's like the least Mind Flayer thing ever," Max said taking her eyes of the binoculars.

"Not necessarily, the Mind Flayer, it likes to hide. He used me when he needed me. It's like your dormant, and then when he needs you, you're activated." Will explained

"Ok so we wait until he's activated"

"No. what if he hurts someone."

"or kills someone"

"We can't take that chance."

We waited until the pool closed and we all formulated a plan. Since the mind Flayer likes it cold, we are going to trap him in the sauna, then we'll see if he's the host or not.

El was in the supply room, getting something for the test as I walk in. I was a little nervous seeing her since the last we talked was at Starcourt.

"Woah that thing is super creepy," I said as El got a dummy body. I grabbed it from her and started playing around with it to lighten her mood. She grabbed it from me and started walking out. " hey el, I just wanted to say.. you know when I said Nana was sick? She wasn't, I lied." "I know."

" right so I think it was important for you to know the context. It was Hopper. He went all crazy on me. He made me lie, saying that I spend way too much time with you." I tried explaining it to her more.

"But what if he's right?"

"Who?"

"Hop"

"No, he's just an angry old man who hates joy."

She took a step closer to me and I felt anxious. "But if I only see you," she said as she poked me on my shoulder. "And I'm a different species than you, then I should be with my species more." She said as she started to pick up the dummy from the ground. I was confused at first but then I realized. "Hey you are spying on us, that's totally against the rules." "I saw y/n so that doesn't matter."
"El it's not like that, I was apologizing for something I did."
