THE BATTLE OF STARCOURT 1
(y/n's pov)
The three adults walk over to us as El is sitting in shattered glass. I move away from El so Hopper can hug her. Tears start coming out of my eyes as I see Hopper and El hugging passionately. Joyce noticed me crying and kneels down to me and tucks my hair strands behind my ears. "sweetie, what happened to you?" she asked. She genuinely cared more than my own mother would. She had a panicked face also very worried too. She started to cup my face and brought me closer to her and kissed my forehead. I started sobbing a little harder and now the whole group must've heard me. I felt a hand on my shoulder and assumed it would be Max or Robin coming to comfort me. But it was Will. The three of us had a special bond.
When Will went missing, I was the only one who believed Joyce's conspiracies. Even when she said Will was talking to her in the lights. Everyone thought I was crazy, even the party. When Will came back, I was the first one to rush into the room he was staying in just to see his face. I didn't care about Eleven or the fact that I sneaked to the hospital without my parents' permission, all I cared about was to see Will alive. After all, Will and I lived closed to one another so we had a lot of time for each other.
"Oh, Will!" Joyce announced and the three of us hugged. A few seconds in and we break the hug because of Hopper's cough. A few sniffles later we all meet up in the center of the mall, or more precisely, the mall fountain. El was exhausted and laying down on Hopper's lap. My head was on Max's shoulder as I continued to bite my nails. Mike started explaining what the 'mind flayer' and about the host and me and El kept exchanging worried looks. "How big is this thing?" Hopper asked out of curiosity. "it's big enough." Jonathan said and I heavily exhaled.
I could feel that someone's eyes burning into my soul. I slightly turn my head to see Mike looking at me, more like staring. We made awkward eye contact for ten seconds straight.
The only thing that changed about him since I left was his voice. I kept looking at his lips then back to his eyes. His hands were in his pockets as he awkwardly stood there. This could've gone for hours until Max ruined our moment. She loudly cleared her throat which made Mike look down at his shoes as he smirked. I shook my head while smirking as I snuggled my head comfortably on Max's shoulder.
I see El looking at me until she started to talk. "y/n are you ok?" she asked loudly. I started getting nervous. "i-why-what do you mean?" I said as I took my head of Max's shoulder. "your face-its red. Are you feeling all right?" She said again. OH GOD, I WAS BLUSHING!
I quickly touched my face and it was true, my face was red hot. "really?! well it's probably the weather, it's pretty hot today." I heard snickered around the room and I turn to look at Mike with his head still looking on the ground as he quietly laughed.
"okay, so, just to be clear, this...this big fleshy spider thing that hurt El, it's some kind of gigantic... weapon?" Steve finally cleared up the awkwardness in the air with his questions. "but instead of, like, screws and metal, the Mind Flayer made its weapon... with melted people." he asked again. "yes exactly!" Nancy announced which caught me by surprise.
